Plasticbutcher Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Hi All, May I present my version of the 46, its the Airfix kit with a True Details cockpit. I used Xtracrylix paint and a mix of the kit decals and Fantasy Printshop for the roundels. I have seen two colour schemes for this machine and I opted for the splinter version with C type roundels on the wings as I figured it was more likely for a 48' machine, I'm sure someone here will correct me if I'm wrong. Hope you like her and thanks for looking. 3
Andrew Jones Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Nice , what a cracking build, I like your choice of the TSS scheme , that's the one I would choose as well. 1
mahross Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Tis' a nice looking plane. I like the colour scheme. The yellow make things pop out. Ross 1
OzH Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Very nice, looks great. I am just finishing off the same build, was doing mine as EDSG over Sky, not sure which is correct, but yours looks great... May change my mind now... Decisions, decisions.... Great job.. 1
Learstang Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) Lovely job, PB! I don't know if the Seafire FR.46 were the best-looking of the Spitfire/Seafire family, but it certainly makes the short list for me. Regards, Jason P.S. I was just going to consign my kit to storage, but I may have to rethink that. Maybe it's time to get cracking on mine. Edited October 5, 2012 by Learstang 1
Spikelhund Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Very nice, like it a lot and would like to have one myself having seen this one. Cheers...
Plasticbutcher Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Thanks to all, it was the second of these I have built and until recent releases I believe it was one of the best things they produced, whatever scheme you choose.
Miggers Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 You don't half do a tidy Spit/Sea Gerry. Very nice 1
sean Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Very nice PB, like it alot (wonder can I get one in 72nd), Sean 1
Learstang Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Very nice PB, like it alot (wonder can I get one in 72nd), Sean Admiral/AZ make one (it even has the same scheme as the above 1/48th scale example) - here's a link - http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10132991. I have their Seafire F.45, and it's a nice kit. It is a short-run kit, so it has a few rough edges, but I suspect it cleans up well. I plan on picking one up (I already have a CzechMaster FR.46 built-up, but you can't have too many late model Seafires as far as I'm concerned). Regards, Jason 1
stoohoo Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Beautiful finished seafire Gerry, got to add one of these to the stash Cheers, Stu 1
Arkady72 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Very nice indeed. Airfix's last versions of Spitfires in '48th is a really top class models. 1
PASANALA Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Nice. Really nice. I love the Seafire 46 and 47. And yours is lovely. Congratulations 1
triumphfan Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Superb model. I like picture 3 in particular. Did you do anything to the prop/spinner? It looks very nice. Also, is the canopy from the kit as it 'sits' well, mine looked like it was balancing on top of the fuse, ended up replacing it with a vac item from aeroclub. Steve. 1

Thanks Steve, the props and spinner are both from the kit as is the canopy, it did sit very proud when I was dry fitting, before dipping in Future I widened it a wee bit in hot water and fixed it with Super Glue when fitting. Cheers Gerry
dergrunepunkt Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Nice one, you did a wonderful job, congratulations!!! I always wondered why this particular kit looks more like a Hasegawa than anything Airfix ever produced?, the finese of the panel lines, the accuracy in the fit and the plastic itself, does anyone have an answer for this? 1
tonyot Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 You`ve done a fabulous job and the colour scheme looks spot on to me, All the best Tony O 1

Cheers Gerry Thanks for the tip on the canopy, I never thought of trying to re-shape it. Good to know that method works, it looks great. 1
Plasticbutcher Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Thanks to all for the very kind words. :drink:
