pigsty Posted October 5, 2012 Share Posted October 5, 2012 - and reducing the top vortices reduces drag, which improves fuel consumption. Military (well, combat) aircraft don't have them because they don't have wings optimised for long-range transonic cruising, where the drag reduction makes a significant difference.
