NAM Updater
I thought that the following art exhibition might be of interest to anyone in the Lincoln area: “Later this month Lincoln Art Works presents a new exhibition entitled ‘Reflections and Remembrance’, which features the work of acclaimed aviation artist Simon Atack. The exhibition, which runs from Saturday 20th October through until Friday 2nd November, 2012 will be supported by an exhibit entitled ‘The Last Crew of Lancaster W4270’, which features details of the compelling story of the research into the crew of 61 Squadron Lancaster W4270 that crashed 1 mile north west of St Marys Church, Staunton in the Vale on 18th February 1943. The formal launch of ‘Reflections and Remembrance’ takes place between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday 20th October and during the course of the exhibition it is anticipated that Simon Atack will be visiting to chat about his work and inspiration. Simon William Atack was born on October 10th 1957. As soon as he was able to comprehend an aircraft in flight he discovered a passion for drawing and painting them, eventually learning for himself how to fly them. He is one of very few artists who can paint from the direct experience of flying an aircraft solo and with a pilot's working knowledge. Atack's paintings and pencil drawings are collected throughout the world, by galleries, museums, armed forces and private individuals. His work has embraced Film and TV drama, illustration for books and editorial features and his name is recognised as one of the world's foremost military aviation and naval artists.
