topgear29
Yesterday I was at my local models (when I say local I mean only) just looking for something different. In the corner it found these to kits never heard of the manufacture but I mostly by Airfix or Revelle for £5.00 each. All the bits are there resin and metal. So just wondering if they are worth building or just bad kits at a cheap price.
Richard M
The Classic Airframes Anson is a real bargain, originally retailed around the GBP40 mark, builds up into a very nice kit and representation of the Anson. No experience of the Magister.
Giorgio N
No 1/48 kit is bad at that price ! Especially considering the original asking price for these, the Anson in particular... Not having built these 2, I can only say that in general these are both short run kits so you might find them more difficult to build compared to the likes of airfix or revell. However I believe they are also the only option in 1/48 scale, so if you like the subjects these are the ones to buy. Even if there could be some issue here and there, IMHO you grabbed a great bargain there !
upnorth
Can't speak for the Magister, but I have seen the Anson built up quite nicely. Considering that Classic Airfames is, by all appearances, gone from the industry; this kit will probably be your best opportunity to get one of their products at a price that won't make your eyes water. Be prepared for a lot of work with a Classic Airframes kit. they were limited run and definitely didn't fall together. I have a half finished F-5 kit from them hiding in a box somewhere and it fought me every step of the way to get it to the point it was where I left it. The Anson kits are some of the more positively reviewed CA kits I've seen: http://www.hyperscale.com/2008/reviews/kits/sh48081reviewbg_1.htm http://kits.kitreview.com/ca4122reviewbg_1.htm
Daniel Cox
I can add a little about the Magister, it does build ok it's quite a small kit in 1/48 Scale. You do have to be careful with getting the wings on as there's no real mating surface except for the edges of the upper and lower wing parts. Also the engine cowlings are not correct especially at the forward underside area but can be filled and re-scribed to improve it. There are also some sink marks near the fuselage anti spin strakes. Also if you plan on the red and white striped Magister be aware this version requires some mods beyond what you get in the box to make it like strake removal and a different rear windscreen and possibly different tail wheel (I can't remember for sure and mine is buried in a shoe box in a cupboard at the moment so I haven't looked). Cheers, Daniel. P.S. I like Magister aircraft so I was happy with mine. Edited September 28, 2012 by Daniel Cox
pigsty
I'm intrigued by the shop's describing the Anson as a starter kit. It's many things but it's not that! Where is this wondrous shop, and has it any more bargains?
Miggers
Never mind what this lot tell you, they're complete rubbish . Best thing to do is buy them and post them to me,I'll "dispose" of them safely and correctly for you Classic Airframes Anson and a Special Hobby Maggi?,I'd say therey're certainly worth a fiver each. Buy them both and leave the shop with a very smug, warm feeling. Edited September 28, 2012 by Miggers
topgear29
The shop is Lancaster model and hobbies they specialise in remote control aeroplanes, Car’s and boats but recently have got a lot more kits in stock but all at RRP prices. I think it was just luck that I was there at the right time. Regarding the Anson think it sat kit started but all it is seat glued to cabin floor. I had a look and all parts are there. The resin/ photo etched parts as well two extra sets of decals of RAF roundels and the grey letters and numbers for the side. The Hawk is new from what I can tell again all the the resin/ photo etched parts are there the only thin missing is a vac form cover for the back seat but I think I can sort that out. I will post a pick of wots in the box's when i get home. and yes i did buy them. Edited September 28, 2012 by topgear29

viscount806x
You definitely got a bargain on those two. Congratulations! I don't think he's bought them yet. Apparently there is a rush of BM members currently converging on Lancaster to rid the world once and for all of these models...
heloman1
A 48th Anson for a Fiver, where's the logic in not buying it, you can hardly buy a 72nd kit for that these days! Grab them both whilst you can. You can always get shot of the one you don't want, especially here. Colin on the Africa Station

MilneBay
They are both very nice kits - need a bit of work, but's just modelling. Here are mine.
smackers
Even if they're not to your liking you'll certainly make a decent enough profit on ebay to get kits more to your taste
