Thanks Brenden. Mine's still stalled, as I need to find the time to scratch-build a new IP and add the fuselage nav lights (and what I think is a camera port). I didn't even know they existed until I pulled out the Airfix 1/48 kit! I'll probably push ahead and finish the Airfix kit before doing much else on its bigger brother, just so I can reclaim that feeling of actually finishing something.

I hope you can make some progress on yours!

Kev

Yip know that feeling!!! Not sure how im going to tackle the IP but the kit part definitely needs to be change!! Probably go with some PE, I think the Spitfire MK XVIe IP is almost identical to the MK22 but again I'm not 100% sure!!

Evening all

After my post this afternoon I decided to do some work on the spitfire tonight.

I really did not fancy filling the panel lines, sanding and then re-scribe the kit and have been trying to think of ways around it.... the thought of scribing terrifies me!!

I saw/read some time ago about a modeller using tipp-ex to paint over the panel lines so I decided to give it a go!! After a tense couple of minutes testing a area of the lower wing it came out great after sanding and a tidy up, the thickness of the fluid is just about right to "half fill" the panel line, not perfect but at least now I don't have to re-scribe!!!!

I've also cut out the wing ailerons, trim tabs, flaps and the moulded nav lights.

Go with just after landing Brenden, full flap 90 degrees to the wing.

There's only two positions,up or down and they're not used for take-off,only on Seafires.

Nice work so far.

Thanks Miggers, by the way do you know it the above PE IP panel would be accurate, I'm finding it very hard to come by pictures...

Looking good!

Off to buy some Tippex tomorrow, right, where's my next Airfix Spit......?

Thanks Rick

No expert on such matters but had a look through my references and they are pretty similar. I'd go with that one so long as it fitted.

Thanks Miggers I'll have a look for one of those panels.

Evening guys

Perfect day for a bit of modelling dont you think?!

Started to work on the flap area today and made some decent progress. Again not 100% accurate more of an attempt to busy up the areas...

The flaps are just tacked on for the pictures they will be left off right till the end

Nice progress Brenden.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to them too, for both of us! Are you planning to add the navigation lights that go under the fuselage behind the wing root (part of the wing assembly in this kit)? They should be there, but I haven't made up my mind about them yet for my build, so I was curious about what you had decided to do.
