what about a 1/72 Mirage III?

Mr. Song updated the Mirage F1 CAD snapshots today. Remarks:

- the intake face is still angular

- the "canopy breakers" (I believe they don't break anything but ensure that the canopy pieces don't get in the way) in the F1B are different between the front seat and the rear seat

Heller did a 1/48 Mirage IIIB, Matchbox did a 1/72. However I'd say that the more interesting twin-seater is the the Mirage IIIBE as the derivatives of this version have been widely exported. Master194 member Griffin noticed something about the Mirage CAD model. The bottom of the F1 fuselage looks too flat and the bottom of the front fuselage looks too boxy (like in a Tornado). Illustration:

Sounds like a change of title would be appropriate:) A new tool Mirage F.1 family up to modern expectations would make me very happy indeed.

On a side note, check out AIR Modeller and Megas Tsonos latest masterpiece - a Greek Mirage F.1 after tons of work. If this capures the shape and elegance of the F.1 (the CAD files look promising), then we'll be in for a treat.

Master194 member Gaudart noticed something and I've played with the photos to explain.

The side glasses of the fixed middle part of the canopy of the F1B do not seem to go up enough.

yes, it is 1/48 kit.

Well that's a real let down!!!!!!!!

You start the thread talking about 72nd, mention one a/c but show pictures of another??? Why didn't you clear up the scale before this thread went to 4 pages?? Is your new company doing any kits in 72nd?? You have asked for suggestions; OK here goes, do these kits in 72nd, for instance the Mirage F1 family, the F-35A.

Song, I think that from the various replies here it is clear that new Mirages III and F-1 in every scale would be welcome !

Apart from the new HiPlanes Mirage III-E in 1/72 and the Eduard and Hobbyboss Mirage III-C in 1/48, all the other kits of both the Mirage III and the Mirage F-1 are at least 25 year old. Some modern kits of these 2 types would be welcome by many modellers !

Not much more to suggest. Some panels stick out of the fuselage surface. If you want to (and can) make the fuselage surface uneven, you could represent three panels of each sides of the fuselage. Photos come from: http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_colin3/mirage_f-1cr/index.php?Page=2

Note that the panels to access the stabilators mecanisms also stick out a bit.

So no new 72nd mirage 111 or mirage f1, these are kits that are crying to given the new century feel. I have a copy of high planes new kit and it is in my opinion nice but a bit expencive, if you want a few. To all the model companys out there please have a go at these there will plenty of life in these molds.

regards Glenn.....
