SaintsPhil
Afrernoon everyone, I've been looking about for a while for the best resin seat to drop into my Airfix lightning. The Quickboost one looks good, but apparently doesn't fit! CMK doesn't look great, at least from online pics. Neomega one looks lovely but they're difficult to get hold of and the P&P is absurd £4.5 to post a £3 resin seat!! So I was looking at Pavla seats. Ones I've had before have nice detail and are a good price. They do a few MK4, but none specific to lightning. Does anyone know which would be the most suitable to use, converted or otherwise? They do a MK4DSA for Sea Vixen, a MK4 FIRM4 for mirage F-1C. A MK4QS for Canberra navigator or just a straight MK4 used in a few (mainly French) jets! I have spent a while looking on the net for differences before asking here, not just being lazy honest! Any lightning experts suggest one of the above, close enough is good enough in 1/48 I would think!! Muzz
I'd spend the extra £6 or so and get the Aires cockpit with seat!
SaintsPhil
Thanks that was another option, but I'm not a fan of the PE belts with the seat.
pte1643
I'm certainly no expert, but I would say the nearest (if near enough is good enough) would be the Firm4 seat... Figure of Eight firing handles, "Teardrop" shaped upper sides. Hannants have them... http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/PAVS48036 PJ Productions do a Mk4 that is stated as being for Lightning, but no picture... http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/PJ481211
SaintsPhil
Thanks I was torn between that and sea vixen one as, double face curtain handles aside, it looks close Actual seat http://www.jetartaviation.co.uk/wp-content/gallery/ejection-seats/english-electric-lightning-type-4bsb-ejection-seat.jpg MK4 DSA http://www.pavlamodels.cz/katalogy/detail.php?k=seats&c=S48035&styl=styly.css
noeyedears
that looks very close. the aires one is better but , yes, the pe belts were fiddly but not impossible.
SaintsPhil
How does the pit fit? You hear bad things, but the only one I've ever used (Harrier GR7) actually fitted like a glove!
noeyedears
took a bit of fiddling, thinning the walls of the kit and resin pit, and a lot of sanding on the bottom of the resin tub so it sits correct on the intake tube but not bad really. now the wheel weels are a different matter, they plainly just do not fit at all. Nik W
Hi guys, Sorry to hijack the thread a little here, but does anyone have any experience of the True Details Lightning cockpit? I've only seen a few fairly average pics of it online and wondered how it compared to the likes of the Aires cockpit set for example? Cheers! It does indeed look rather nice, and if it fits fairly well then its already one up on the Aires set! Many thanks chief! Regards, Nik
