1/24 `Airfix Messerschmidt

You are not joking when you call it a monster!

I like the dirty finish on the paintwork from the pre-shading - looks great and very realistic.

Maybe the centre line on the underside could benefit from a little more sanding to eliminate the join perhaps?

It's still a great build and that finish really is wonderful - just looks like a well used fighter plane!

Took me a long time to get anywhere near a finish as good as that - if at all.

Its supposed to be there. 109's had a panel running along the top and bottom of the fuselage.

Nice finish by the way.

Good build and an impressive kit in spite of its age.

I have to amiably disagree with dekenba and some others, though – to my eyes, the preshading looks way overdone and not realistic at all. Especially considering that this particular plane took part in the BoB and at that time of the war, German crew chiefs would probably be taken behind the barracks and shot if they left a plane in that state. ;-)

Also, the fin does look a bit strange in that scale without the infamous crooked cross, don't you think?

Btw, there's some interesting info on Yellow 9 from JG 26 on this page: http://www.aviationm...m.co.uk/109.htm

Kind regards,

Joachim

Edit: Here's a 1:24th decal sheet full of crooked crosses: http://www.techmod.pl/aviation-24/24005-german-wwii-swastikas
