swordfish fairey
Hi, am I too late or can I still scramble aboard the build? I hope to do the Revell Dornier Do-X and will show the kit laid out when I receive it. I am intending to do it just about to lift off the oggin, with all or most of the engines running....No, I'm not going to use 12 little motors.......... Pin
This is a good subject and lovely kit. Are you going to build cockpit interior? Cockpit windows are quite large, the empty space inside is clearly visible.

Doug Rogers
Great choice Smudge, I was looking at some footage on Youtube on this beast last night, the interior was incredibly plush!
swordfish fairey
I have seen that footage too, I think I will draw the line at cockpit detailing.............Smudge

Mach Turtle
You are a brave man! I have a Shorts Empire Boat on my bedroom ceiling (wife allows models there, but nothing with armament), and it would be excellent to have a Do. X to go with it. I will be watching this one. swordfish fairey
Well made a start on the hull, I decided to cover it in Scotch-cal. I will paint the wings with Aluminium when I get to that stage... Smudge
Doug Rogers
Seeing it like that it looks literally like a ship with wings! Really looking forward to seeing this take shape.

CliffB
What a great choice Smudge. Classic interwar thinking: Need for power? Just add more engines... Great thing was, it worked. There are several evocative photos on the net of the Do-X sightseeing around the world - pure magic Cliff

Pin
According to my sources, the lower wings are all bare metal - why did you painted them dark gray ? Edited October 15, 2012 by Pin
CliffB
While I remember Smudge (Pin's photo has reminded me), watch out for the flight deck glazing - it is generally pretty rubbish (at least the one I had was), and has noticeably too few windows. Either way though, I can see that yours is going to be a very impressive beast! Cheers Cliff
Pin
Also notice the slanting struts on outside engine nacelles are missing in the kit.
swordfish fairey
According to my sources, the lower wings are all bare metal - why did you painted them dark gray ? Do you mean the floats?? I have read in a book some where that at one time the floats were painted non slip black. But I'm blowed if I can find it now.. This picture appears to show it.........Albeit partially..I will change my model to reflect..... Thanks for the picture, I have never seen that one before. Cheers Cliff, I have a cunning plan with the glazing........Smudge Edited October 16, 2012 by swordfish fairey
