RAS
I have just bought the 1/48 Scale Airfix Hawker Fury that I intend to finish in WW2 markings. Does anyone make 1/48 scale conversion kits for the Spanish or radial engine Fury? Thanks in advance Few pictures of the “real thing” follow
Graham T
For the Spanish Fury you could add a Gladiator undercart from one of the avalable kits in that scale although there are also some front end differences as these machines were fitted with as Hispano Suiza engine that apparently had a lower thrust line. Apart from the larger "tear-drop" fairings on the upper cowl, the exhaust post arrangement was different & a smaller DIA prop was fitted. Should all be doable although decals might be an issue. There were various radial engined Furies, all of which IMHO ruined the lines of a beautiful machine! Norwegian Furies had a cowled AS Panther & lacked the underside radiator "bath". Persian Furies were originally fitted with a P&W Hornet but later reengined with BS Mercury engines. Again maybe taken from a Gladiator kit? Try & get hole of the Mushroom Publications "Hawker Fury & Nimrod" by Alex Crawford - it should tell you all you need to know.
