Who can understand kit manufacturers, they seem to work off their own logic? I suspect this will be a big seller in the US. The full engine and etch included is interesting. Wonder if they'll get the surface detail better than the Italeri one?

The H-34 Choctaw was a multi-purpose, radial-powered utility helicopter produced by Sikorsky in the United States. It was developed as a replacement for the similar Korean War-era UH-19 Chickasaw series of helicopters. Its outstanding operational capabilities eventually led to its use by the United States Army, United States Air Force, the United States marine Corps, and the United States Coast Guard. The Choctaw also went on to prove commercial success, being fielded in the ranks by no fewer than 27 foreign partners including some limited license production of the type. The Choctaw saw notable service in the Vietnam War. First flight of the system was achieved on March 8th, 1954. Roles included utility transport, anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue, and VIP transport. In it standard configuration transport versions could carry 12 to 16 troops, or 8 stretcher cases if utilized in the MedEvac role.

Interesting tie-up (unless Trumpeter have merely purchased the Gallery Models moulds, which is a possibility). This family of UH-34s are very nice kits and even more superior than the Italeri Westland Wessex kits. I had hoped that Gallery would eventually release the UH-34 with the necessary parts to reproduce the British licence built versions but their production rates are very slow and I suspect the business has now actually been subsumed into Trumpeter. I am no expert on mould sub-contracting but the Gallery kits do not have the same 'feel' as those from Trumpeter so I think they are independently made (rather like the Kinetic Sukhoi Su-33 Sea Flanker kit). Anyway, it will be interesting to see how this develops.
