Here's my entry for the group build - a nice Eduard FW190-F8 Profipack. Not decided on which scheme to do yet, but it doesn't make a difference yet

So work starts with the cockpit - slotted all the plastic bits together, then added some of the PE (the non pre-printed bits)

P1000918.jpg

Then added all the 'pre-printed' PE - ended up painting the PE anyway as Eduard have managed to get the RLM66 a different colour from the paint. Weathered the cockpit with some chipping, an oil wash and some dirt pigments.

Not a bad mornings work

That PE looks the business Peter. If you don't mind me saying, I think the part behind the pilot's seat is the wrong way round though. It represents a hinged cover for an area the pilot to keep his 'stuff' in, so the hinge should be on the furthest edge from the seat. If I recall correctly from reading some of the STGB builds, the Eduard instructions for that part is wrong.

Started with the MG cowlings. As i'm building the 190 closed up there are a few shortcuts, one of which is that you can leave out the MG mountings

P1000922.jpg

Then made up the wing and the wheel bays - RLM02 all round, followed by some oils

P1000923.jpg

Then attach the wings - as is normal with Eduard 190's there's always a little gap, so some shims were required

Finally added the last of the cockpit combing and the gun sight

Onwards with the fun bit - this is the way I build Eduard 190's when not having the panels open.

First build up most of the cowling, then trim the exhaust stacks and glue to the inside of the cowling

P1000928.jpg

Then build up the cooling fan, and front two banks of the engine, and glue into the front of the cowling

P1000929.jpg

Then glue the whole lot in place - this avoids the alignment issues with the engine bearers

P1000930.jpg

Some Mr Surface 500

P1000931.jpg

Then wipe with IPA cotton bud to clean it up

P1000932.jpg

Then finally i've masked the canopy, and fitted the front portion and masked off the rest - next weekend Paint !

As i've got the day off, i've got some more done on the 190

First up, masking off the wheel wells with tissue

P1000935.jpg

Then on with Primer, and sanded back

P1000936.jpg

On with a coat of Alclad Aluminium

P1000937.jpg

Then Hairspray and salt for the chipping of the main camo

P1000938.jpg

Then finally sprayed and post shaded the RLM-76 undersides, which needs to cure before I start on the RLM 83

Agh! Wish I'd thought of that simple route for attachment of an engine-less cowling when I was building my two for the 190 GB - simplicity

Today's work on the 190 - first the RLM 83 Green

P1000940.jpg

Masked and sprayed the yellow nose band

P1000941.jpg

Then using home made masks i sprayed the main markings - this is mainly so that the insignia can be chipped as well

P1000942.jpg

Which gives this - also mottled the tail

P1000943.jpg

Then the attack of the toothbrush - dissolves / knocks off the salt and chips paint

P1000944.jpg

Finally a coat of Klear over the top ready for the decals tomorrow

Today's work on the Wurger - first the decals and stencils, nothing major.

P1000949.jpg

Then the dreaded prop spiral and the landing gear. This is always 'interesting' to get aligned on eduard 190's, just takes some care

P1000948.jpg

Then matt coat, and start the post shading - took photo's outside as it makes it easier to see in daylight

P1000950.jpg

P1000951.jpg

Nearly done now - should finish next weekend.
