PaulR
Evening all, well, this was the post that nearly wasn't, in terms of technical probs with laptop, camera, charger etc . . . anyway, for the last few year I've always tried to build a model from my favourite period of history, namely the Battle of Britain. This year, for the 72nd anniversary of the 'Hardest Day', I've built Airfix's super new tooling of the Spitfire mk1, which for my purposes is the best kit yet of this variant. It's OOB apart from Modeldecal codes to make up R6712 YT*N of 65 sqn, based at Rochford and Manston from mid to late August. If I've got my facts straight, it was used to claim an ME109 around the 12th August, and flew with the squadron during the some the most intense combat of the battle. It was a push to get it done for today, but I'm pleased I did; important I think to remember history, more so as it gets further into the past. Anyway, for what it's worth . . . completed using Xtracrylix and Tamiya, and my well thumbed copy of the Hardest Day by Alfred Price.
