Red Dragon
1/32 737, get it right! Phil Is that before or after the 1/72 VC-10 and 1/24 Hawk that were nailed on dead certs from inside sources a year or so back, or to accompany the 1/48 737? Red Dragon
No, based around the work they done all those years ago before Academy released theirs and Airfix cancelled their planned Hunter. thx6667
No, based around the work they done all those years ago before Academy released theirs and Airfix cancelled their planned Hunter. Except there never was a planned Hunter - some people did nods and winks and alluded to it as being something they "knew", but it never went anywhere further than that within Humbrol. There was very nearly a 1/48 Harrier II family to be produced in conjunction with Accurate Miniatures, but that's another story.
Red Dragon
I think you are taking this a bit too seriously! Rabbit Leader
Phil, I probably speak for many, however I truly hope that there is a small ounce of truth in your Airfix predictions, rather than a mere stab in the dark (although they are very convincing?). I suppose Telford is just around the corner, so if we do not get any major announcements, then we are probably going to be less likely to think that a 1/48 Hunter 6 & Meteor 8 are going to appear under the Airfix label for 2013. I for one, would rather see an earlier Hunter mark without sawtooth wing, however hopefully we may get a conversion set from someone else? Are you in any position to advise us where you received this information - besides the predictable " Reliable Source"? I for one are truly hopeful that you are right - at least you have made many British aircraft fans eager with anticipation. I can't stop thinking about it...... Cheers and kind regards..... Dave. lufbramatt
For the last few years Airfix have announced the new range over the Christmas new year holiday. Last year they announced the 1/48 jackal/coyote at Telford, but kept the rest of the range until Christmas.
sniperUK
Well there certainly won't be a 1/48th Puma ,at least not for a few years sadly.

The Merlin mock up was on the stand at Telford, had that been announced the Christmas before? Just wondering, as it was new to me at Telford! (still wished it had been a couple of 1/72 EE Lightnings though.....!!)

Red Dragon
If any of my "predictions" come true I will be buying a lottery ticket! As mentioned earlier in this thread the Cold War era seems to be in vogue, there are a lot of gaps that need filling, so perhaps................ AirfixAndy
Of course they might bring ....... or possibly the Javelin, Swift, Scimitar Phil Did he just say Javelin !!! Yum yum Andy
Scimitar F1
Vulcan in 48th or Victor in 72 - nothing is as Cold War as a nuclear bomber!
The wooksta V2.0
There's only two things I'd like from Airfix, both 72 New Spitfire Vb/Vc, using their Ia tool, with optional wings for each version and the later canopy with the internal armour glass. Plus late tailplanes and 6 stub exhausts. If they do that, they just need a new fuselage sprue for a Seafire F.II. A Spitfire F.XIV highback. Have to be a C wing though, as it's easier to convert to a E than backdating an E to a C. And if they kept an E wing to go on a lowback, we'd get an F.XVIIIe too. Win-win all round. Actually, that's a bit more than 2 things but would give both Spitfire modellers and Airfix more options and definitely more sales.
Seahawk
If there's anything in that Cold War hint, I'd put my money on a new 1/72 LIghtning. The moulds are very old and showing serious signs of wear, there are lots of markings options, some very colourful, and it has iconic status. Imagine, a new Lightning to the standards we've seen on the Swordfish and Mustang. Though I wouldn't object to a Canberra B.2 as long as it is not based on the rather ropey existing B(I)8 kit. Meatbox8
1/72nd Seafire 47(should be easy, they've got the basis with the 22) Scale down that lovely big Sea Vicky to 1/72nd,that would be a winner. A nice Dove/Devon(with RAF and FAA decals)would go down a real treat judging on how there's a frenzy when a Rareplanes one appears on you-know-where for auction. I'll second that on the Sea Vixen. Wish they'd do the B2 Canberra. Can't understand why the only did the (relatively) small production PR9 and B(I)8. New tool Buccaneer would be really great. Mind you, most of these would be too big for Series 1. Did he just say Javelin !!! Yum yum Andy Yes, yes, yes!!!! If only. And a Hunter T7/8. Oh, and a Scimitar. Meatbox8
I'm pretty sure it's one of these with a tailhook.......... http://en.wikipedia....ickers_Victoria Ha ha. I'd quite like one of those actually (without the hook).
Meatbox8
Lightnings. Please. How long must we wait for a decent, accurate EE/BAC Lightning in 1/72? And ALL of them, well at least the single seaters, like they did in 1/48. With all those lovely squadron markings, they'd shift thousands of them. Dave Fleming
Methinks RedDragon has had a few bites to his trawl....... Actually, i have to say i'mimpressed at how tight a secret Hornby keep their future release schedule, in spite of all the nods and winks people seem to think they have. Procopius
If there's anything in that Cold War hint, I'd put my money on a new 1/72 LIghtning. This seems likely to me, as I've just dropped eighty dollars on aftermarket stuff to correct a Trumpeter F.1A.
Ian M
I seem to recall having read that they have a plan to work through the Spitfires retooling them one or two a year, So I see a "new" Spitfire on the way. Trying the guess what they will do is, with out insider knowledge next to impossible. Rumour would have us believe their playing with another 1/24, to keep the Mossy company... With their current record. what ever they say will be coming next year will first turn up in 2014 any way... :-) I just hope the curve ball is a 1/48 Gannet!!! Phil I'll be stood looking over your shoulder picking the same numbers if that's the case! Still, I'd love to see 1/48th Tempest, Meteor, Hunter and 1/72nd Hunter T7, F-4K/M 'toom, Spitfire XIV etc Note to Mr Airfix, please don't waste your time moulding a Supermarine Swift or Scimitar, we need Tempests, Vampires, Venoms, Hunter F4/T7, Lightnings, Canberra B2/6's, F4K/M Phantom, F/RF-84F Thunderstreak, Harvard II, Firefly V, DH Hornet long before we need the Supermarine Fat-Knacker brigade.
