cngaero
Hi Mike, I had a cr@p day at work yesterday but came home to find my new Xperia S phone had arrived. Good oh I thought, My first brush with touch screen technology, By 10pm I'd had enough......we had along hard fight, but it won so I switched the blessed thing off. So to console myself I switch on the laptop to cheer myself up with the friendly banter on Britmodeller. That did it, my world was crumbling around me......Grumpy old Chris had a hissy fit and went to bed in a proper huff.........All was not well in my little world. But......I've had a day off work today and so I have spent a couple of hours having a good look at the site. It is different, but I think I actually like it. my only criticism is that my number of posts has shrunk from 124 to 92.......Is it the recession? Has the VAT been knocked off? All joking apart, It looks good so best of luck with any future changes. I still can't get to grips with the bl@@dy phone though. Best regards, Chris.

popeye
Well - getting used to the new look and features - I noticed even the search function is now showing better results ... . But is there hope that elder topics will be shown again after some „tweaking“ ? For example I had more than a dozen threads showing in my „Profile - Content“ - now there are just the 4 lastest shown. This was a really nice and useful feature allowing to go looking for more and old interesting topics in anybody’s profile - at least for me..... Seahawk
Well, I'm at least as Luddite as the next guy and I like the new format and functionality. So far I've mainly been trying to do what I'm used to doing. As far as I can see, the PM process is a lot less clunky - even if I'm told (in error) that all my incoming PMs have been deleted! . I also like that, when you're working through several pages of new posts and respond to something partway through, the Back button takes you back to where you were, not to the start of the whole multi-page list. There's also much more functionality in the View New Posts function. Using IE9, Vista and Firefox response time is not noticeably different and colours seem to be white, pale blue and something roughly similar to Azure Blue (though without that elusive purple tinge). Thanks and well done to Mike and the mods.

Alan P
How strange! I forgot to mention that my post count is a figment of my imagination... it varies on a whim My post count seems to have dropped about 800 since the change? Hopefully the new software weeds out all the drunken, whingey and offensive posts too ! Result! (Actually if it did I'd be down to about 10...) Mike
Has anyone noticed that they can now ignore avatars at any stage of viewing the forums? Go into your Settings and choose the 'Ignore Preferences' from the menu. There you will see a bunch of tick-boxes to choose where you see them. Saves a bit of space on a cramped screen

Alex Gordon
G'day Mike, This is your site, what you say goes. I'm struggling with the new appearance and operating. The old setup was wonderfully simple and more inviting for me. Sorry to be a stick in the mud. When I can find the financial means to contribute I will.Adverts are the last thing we want. All the best,Alex.

Mike
Just press the HOME button, or do like I did and assign one of my spare mouse buttons (I have 5 in total) to HOME and the other to BACK. That speeds your trip round the forums no end

No, I have an Android phone but on the old version I had to try to read the 'full' version. This is much better.

bootneck
I travel quite a lot and I notice people here speaking about the mobile version of BM. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace and a Galaxy Tab (the first version) and wondered what is needed to get them set up to view BM via Android. I've searched the FAQ but couldn't find anything. An Idiot's guide would be helpful if anyone has the patience please? Mike
CliffB
Blimey - I go away for a week's holiday and find this when I get back! Overall an excellent move Mike, but I am finding it harder to spot postings for the Group Builds that I'm interested in. I know it says 'in ......' but that pale grey is somehow more difficult to read quickly (at least for my tired eyes!). Cheers Cliff

Mike It's deadly simple Mike - just point your browser at the site, and the site will detect your "user agent" and should load the mobile skin automatically for you.
