Radleigh
Hi guys, new to this train stuff... Just trying to find some 48th WW2 German trains, track, trailers etc but having no luck? Reading through I've just found out it's 'O' gauge? Which I never knew... Does anyone do anything like what i'm after? Ideally want to stick with 48th scale, or the absolute nearest. Thanks in advance!
Mike
I know that Trumpy do some in 1:35, such as the BR52 and one other that I can't remember the designation of. PLenty of armoured and armed carriages too, and most if not all come with track... No idea about 1:48 though - suspect you might have to go to a specialist, or scratch build

Would be pretty large though! Thanks Mike! Edited August 6, 2012 by Radleigh
Shar2
I haven't seen any in 48th. You can get the BR-52, BR-57, BR-86 and WC-360 Shunter all in 35th by Trumpy, plus loads of wagons from Trumpy and Dragon.

Thanks in advance! Yup, 48th is O Gauge thereabouts. You could try some of the German/French manufacturers, you might get lucky with an engine and rollingstock that would fit the era, but i dont think theres anything in 48th scale plastic. Thanks in advance! I suggest doing some research on scales, IIRC in the US 'O' gauge is 1/48th, but in Europe I think it's 1/43, which is why I suggest more research... and/or join a train forum? HTH T Sadly I don't have internet at home, just at work (my own business) so It's not always that easy searching for other forums, joining etc, hence why I've posted on here! Thanks for all the above though, Might have to have a rethink in 35th!
swordfish fairey
Hi Radleigh, if you are thinking of electric trains, your best bet maybe H0 (1/87), Lilliput & Roco do a large amount of that era rolling stock and there are a few plastic kits of suitable loco's as well. Too small?? Very good quality though........Smudge
Radleigh
To small sadly Tony, thinking of a small dio with a (captured) crashed aircraft being transported by train. Thanks though
OzH
Have a look on Track 48, I think they had some rolling stock, low loaders etc on there somewhere... Hauler and Verlinden both do a track sections Battalion Bits do 50 and 80 tonne flat wagons And Hauler do a conversion for the Steyr 1500 into a railway type truck.... Will Vale
One thing which might matter: US O scale is 1/48, whereas European O scale is 1:45 and UK O scale is 1/43.5 (7mm/foot) just to make things confusing! There is some beautiful stuff available in Germany from Lenz, who recently introduced a range of mainly Epoch III models, which would be a bit late for your period, and expensive to boot. They have a stunning BR50, which was introduced in '39 as a standard heavy freight loco (Einheitslok), but I don't know if they have it in DR or only DB schemes. I suspect it'd be easier and cheaper to use the 1/35 kits and pretend a 1/32 plane is close enough, unless you actually want to make it go! Rob 1
Sorry, a bit late spotting this question; I've looked for proper 1:48th scale railway equipment, the only thing I've really found is Wespe do this nice little German rail wagon, which would look good as part of a diorama. Bit pricey, but should be good (and fairly unique in 1:48).
tank152
Battalion Bits do 3 types of German Flatbed wagons, I nearly invested in one of them myself at SMW. Track48 list 2 of them themhttp://www.track48.com/shop/product.php?productid=1419&cat=0&page=1[url=http://www.track48.com/shop/product.php?productid=168&cat=0&page=1]http://www.track48.com/shop/product.php?productid=168&cat=0&page=1 Edited November 22, 2013 by tank152
Sgt.Squarehead
1/72 might be more practical on several levels.....The Hobbyboss 1/72 kits are stonkingly good, UM & UMMT's offerings are OK, Armageddon's armoured train is best avoided!
