Radpoe Spitfire
Sorry about this, trying to find out the colour for the undercarrage wells & doors for the Mk Va "W"serials- i.e. Buck Casson's aircraft. (yep... I'm building the Hobbyboss 1/32 kit) My references don't show his aircraft, but it seems to me the earlier Spitfire's had interior green, sky or doped aluminium or combination of one or the other. Can anyone elaborate for me please? regards Rad. Edited August 5, 2012 by Radpoe Spitfire

Radpoe Spitfire
The choice is yours Rad,but go with either Sky or doped Aluminium. Hi Miggers, thanks for the quick reply. I've seen them both on the doors so am I right to assume the wells will be matched, i.e. sky doors- sky wells. regards Rad
Miggers
Yes Rad,that's about right. As Edgar often mentions, all interior surfaces(cockpit excepted)were done with a grey primer and aluminium dope to start with. Once the a/c was painted in the "field" so to speak, the u/c doors and wells were quite normally painted in the new exterior finish. Obviously, the wheels and radiator/oil cooler matrixes would be masked out.
