oggy4624 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Looking forward to this one for a long time, ended up getting the decal sheet from a German website. Hasegawa 104 OOB minus the decals , of course.
DaveJL Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Are you using the Twobobs 'komatsu Starfighters' decals? If so, could you send me a link to the website if possible? Thanks Dave
oggy4624 Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Hi Dave . I got them about 6 months ago. I think they were the last available, as I looked everywhere. http://www.aero-spezial-modellbauversand.de/index.php Happy hunting Paul
DaveJL Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Thanks for the link Paul, but yep, they're all gone! Would you be willing to sell/trade the remainder of the sheet should you not require it? Cheers Dave
oggy4624 Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) I don't know if anyone has posted this link yet, brought back memories of my controllers course at Brize in '86 (one of the lads had it on tape), and made me laugh! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd0CbIwRd1Q 'G' for Germany! Oh yeah, I actually started mine tonight - small miracle ! Edited August 12, 2012 by oggy4624
oggy4624 Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 Wash applied to the u/c bay, the cockpit decal snugged down nicely with mr mark softer. Now to stitch the fuselage together 1
Giorgio N Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Good start on the cockpit and wheel wells. Which scheme will you be doing ?
oggy4624 Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Hi Giorgio. I will be doing the red /white centre fuselage 56-8673 Hopefully there may even be another G,J or S to follow with a T bird (possibly NASA) Paul Edited August 14, 2012 by oggy4624
PaulR Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Any updates Oggy? Would have been very tempted by a Japanese starfighter mysel, if I had had the right boxing! Paul
oggy4624 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 The fuselage is together and it's sanding time. I am using a bog standard Luftwaffe G , but with the skinny tyres and flat gear doors. I moved heaven and hell for the Komatsu decal sheet The only problem is the sheet provides 4 options but only stencils for one aircraft, so it's scan and copy time for the rest of my 'whistling coffins'. I have another G and a TF in 48th, and some NASA U2 decals ( technically an F104 derivative - hey ref , is that permitted - a U2?) Paul
oggy4624 Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Got some painting done tonight. Very happy , with practically no bleed through on the red.. Grey and nm finish on the fuselage will be next.
Lex77 Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 That's a nice colour scheme! Which white did you use?
Giorgio N Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Looking good ! What grey is suggested in the twobobs sheet ? I'm thinking of building a grey/NM one myself now...
oggy4624 Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Hi Giorgio. FS16473, Vallejo 046, pale grey blue is what I am using (FS 36473)
Giorgio N Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Hi Giorgio. FS16473, Vallejo 046, pale grey blue is what I am using (FS 36473) Thanks for the info ! I thought it was 16473 but looking at some pictures I was not too sure... I have the same vallejo paint marked for use though !
oggy4624 Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 Back to work on the 104 again . Alclad problems with the jet exhaust . The pigment has separated from the carrier with the alclad2, but the 15 year old alclad was ok - so much for progress! 1
oggy4624 Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 All the small airbrushing is nearly done, just the gear , gear doors air brakes and one tank left . Then it's the cockpit and decals , then finished. Oh yeah, the wash. 1
oggy4624 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 ouch! The price of looking at the wrong instruction sheet. The 'starfighters' sheet showed white u/c and speed brake bays, so they had to be resprayed and detailed - again. Thanks to 1999.co.jp , which has all the instruction sheets.available.
Giorgio N Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Undercarriage bays should be silver, the air brake ones are zinc primer but the inner face of the airbrake could be silver or white on the G, looks silver on the J
oggy4624 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 That's all sorted out now - alclad to the rescue - I will have to order some more. Started the wash with some dark grey, and I must scan that decal sheet before I start to apply the decals. I have just finished processing my shots from a conningsby/ lakenheath visit and may just drag the revell 48th typhoon out next.
