Pascal
For most people this is a toy. Well it IS a toy, it's a finished product, has opening parts, rolls back and forth, and it kind of looks like a Ferrari F430. So lets see if we can turn it into a scale model . Disassembly took more then an hour, mostly because of all the CA glue that Hotwheels used. First the body parts were polished with a 3M pad to get rid of the mold lines : The indicator lights were a integral part of the metal body, so I sanded them and drilled a hole. Later one pieces of clear orange sprue will be used to simulate the lights : It was a hell of a job to get the seats out. These a made of a "rubbery" kind of plastic and will be replace by resin ones : The engine is just a plastic plate : With the following picture and a Bburago Ferrari 360 engine as a reference, I started adding detail :

Pascal
I got rid off a lot of metal on the inside of the body, mostly treaded tubes that are used to screw the body to the chassis. The firewall will be replaced by a piece of plasticard, and a scratchbuild "speakerbox" will be added : The side window frames are moulded with the side windows, leaving a big gap : But with a little effort : The first of the 2 speakers was constructed from various materials : Sincerely Pascal

richellis
Very nice. Alot of people dismiss 'toys' or diecast models but with some work they are cracking models. I enjoy working on die-casts sometimes. Good work!

Pascal
I made exhaust tubes from soldering wire : Dyfit : Needs a little more bending : Looks nice from the outside : The original seats are made out of a "rubbery" plastic, so I bought some resin seats : After a little sanding and a coat of primer : The seats are bigger than the original ones, some plastic needs to go to fit them in the interior : Did some work on the roof of the interior : The engine bay of the real F430 is quite different than the model : With a little imagination : I made this : Little brass strip to hold it in place Sincerely Pascal
Pascal
Did some work on the engine bay : Dryfit with the scratchbuild speakers : Test with Motip metallic blue (54559) : Covered the interior with selfadhesive velvet / velours. The brake and trottle are PE from Tremonia : Sincerely Pascal

Pascal
Had some problems with the blue, so I went for a metallic grey (Motip 54710). First coat : Second coat and 3 coats of Motip clear varnish : After polishing, dryfit on the chassis : The first 2 of 6 PE-grills from Tremonia glued and painted : Sincerely Pascal

Pascal
Thanks ! The PE brake discs are from Tremonia : I made the grills for the bonnet from wire mesh : Reflectors from electrical tape : New rear window, made from a piece of transparent plastic : Cut and painted a tie-rap for the filter : A dryfit with the wheels : Sincerely Pascal
