SaintsPhil
Better post another update! Painting all but done now Despite my best efforts there's a few bits that need repainting with Alclad due to finger marks!! I'm pretty happy with tail Instead of using the cream decals I painted it white then masked off the strips and painted the red! Decal still has the slightly cream border but it doesn't really show. I did the same with airbrake doors but forgot to photograph! On to main decals next. Phil

GForceSS
Looking pretty fantastic so far. Like the pilot you painted too. Can not wait to see this zipper complete. MP
Nik W
Great paint work on that NMF and also the red tail, this is one that's on my 'I really must build that list.' Looking forward to seeing more! Nik
SaintsPhil
Thanks guys, finally managed to track down some decals, which are on route to me now so hopefully I can get this moving again!
Giorgio N
Good to hear you found the decals ! I was thinking of your Starfighter a few days ago when the TV showed Night at the Museum 2... some of the scenes shot at the Smithsonian showed a two seater with the same tail design as your aircraft ! SaintsPhil
Is that a real Jet Giorgio? I thought this was a one off special for the pilot? A twin seat sat next to it would look good....
Giorgio N
Here it is in a still from the movie: http://www.i-f-s.nl/news/NATM.jpg From what I found it's a CF-104 that was painted for a while in the colours of your aircraft even if it was the wrong version. The aircraft is still existing in a Canadian museum and is now repainted in the proper colours of a CAF CF-104D
SaintsPhil
Well there you go! Doesn't seem to have the multi coloured bands around nose and intake cones but otherwise it's the spit of her! Could be an interesting project, but decals might be an issue... SaintsPhil
Well decals on! I got hold of an Eagle Strike sheet for some and others were the kit ones. To dispell a couple of myths (to me at least) Hasegawa decals are ok with a dash of microsol and microsol is ok with high shine Alclad, at least in small amounts! Quite pleased with that! Wings are done too, varnish just drying, plus tip tanks, tail and rudder. Just needs all putting together now. End is in sight! Phil
Giorgio N
Are you not afraid of having to use filler on the wing-fuselage join ? I have to say that this model looks really cool, I'm tempted to look for a kit with those markings now !
SaintsPhil
I'd test fitted the wings and they're a perfect fit, in fact they're now fitted, no glue required! Pictures to follow. I've seen the kit on eBay a few times recently Giorgio so it must be a recentish boxing
SaintsPhil
All finished! Pictures are pretty naff, light was poor so just used my phone. I'll get the proper set up out at some point and take some decent shots. Not a lot of point putting these pictures in the gallery! I'll also do an RFI once I take some better shots. Thanks to Giorgio for hosting the GB, and to everyone who commented along the way, it's been a blast, so much so I'm looking for an F-104G now to build a second!
