Airfix Me110E

Recommended Posts

The Frustrating Airfix offering, warts and all. Added some crude aerials and used some spare decals and not much in the way of stencilling after hearing of the difficulties with them. Did some replacement panels in RLM02 just to add a bit of variation. The canopy was a bit tricky to mask as my tape for some reason was very 'unsticky' at times. No ordnance as I thought it would spoil the lines of the aircraft (better looking than it's supposed relief, the 210).However it's done. Oh, I like my aircraft dirty and beat up. Got some new photo technology so please excuse the dodgy pics. Am still getting to grips with it. Anyway, rivet counters do your worst.

I like the exhaust staining, very dramatic! Also the new fuel tank panel, a nice touch of individuality.

I can't help thinking that it's a very shiny aeroplane though - perhaps a quick blast of matt varnish would tone it down a little.

(And your photos are pants, sorry! :))

This is a terrific color scheme for the Me110 ! It was a good choice here to show the plane without external stores and thus the clean look of this design does come through extremely well in your replica. A beautifully done aircraft model.

Nice colour scheme - desert is best. The 02 panel is also a great idea - and realistic to boot. I'm sure there were many patches on those birds - they had a hard time of it in Africa.

Don't worry about the rivet counters - they cannot see where the rivets are due to the photos. (Have you got/tried the macro setting on your camera?)
