paulj
Great to see these model factory hiro kits being built well, seriously tempted to add one to the stash.
pg265
Good evening, First of all, thanks a lot for all the kind comments ! I made some small progresses on the Little Red Monster... Riveting started on visible areas of the fuel tank: Around the fuel filler cap and behind the driver seat. A test to depict a discreet fuel leak... I also made a test to realize the rivets on the wheel rim. A bit too big maybe and to glossy on the pics, but I've just put some satin clear on the gold rivets. I'm not sure I will keep it like this... BEURKK!... In fact I was pretty unhappy and found it more and more awful! So I lightly progress on the subject: PLOUF!(Sound of the wheel into the Cellulosic thinner  ) I just have to quickly redo the paint job with primer, acrylic tan then oils... then new rivets of right diameter! Those have already been "punched" in Bare Metal gold, but I may also use one of my beading tools... I've also started to fill the holes on the bottom part of the body as I don't want to represent the 1953 BATMOBILE  ... So quick masking job and quick mix of the 2 components magic paste: Mori Mori GO!! That's it for today. Hope you still like the build... pg265
Hi, Few progress on the little Red Bullet. First, I turned a part and fix it on the fuel tank: Parts for the tank straps Fuel tank webbing Everything will be hidden so no detail here! Engine in the chassis!! The firewall, the center tunnel, the shaft are also permanently set in place: The upper plate Brake drums with their fittings Radiator in place ...and connected! Fuel lines to the tank and the engine fuel pump Dash board and shift lever temporarily fixed Same thing for the seat to test fittings of all the parts Mori Mori OK and sanded: ready for paint! Hope you still like it... Pascal
pg265
Hi, Small update on the "piccola macchina da corsa rossa". I've tried to represent the link between the Throttle pedal and the carbs Body parts prepared and test fitted on the chassis prior to paint job Here is what will still be visible of the engine once the body parts will be installed Sorry for small progress. Hope you still enjoy the WIP... Pascal
pg265
Hi, Small progress on the Red Bullet! I quickly turned a part to hold the steering wheel during paint ops: Maskol and primer ...Quickly followed by acrylic Flat Earth. Than oils... But I still have to work on the wheel. Prep of the different parts of the body, but not the bottom part... Primer: Pink primer to enhance the red: More progress soon... I hope! Hope you still like it... Madmonk
That's coming together very nicely Pascal. The bodywork looks really thin, is it plastic or resin. Keep up the good work. Warren

Oddball
I think the red has come out just right, nice job! Pink primer's a new one to me, where do you get it?
pg265
Hi, It's been a long time since the last post Sorry for being so long to reply. Pink primer is used to enhance the red. I used it for about 30 years and just add few drops of red into white primer. Yellow works fine too, it just depends on the final result you're looking for. So small progress on the 500F2! Small work done on the lower body: louvers opened on both side, pink is on waiting for the Ferrari red. Exhaust started, but still need a lot of work... paint.... Ferrari Red paint tomorrow and maybe clear coat... Thanks for looking. Pascal

pg265
Hi, Thanks a lot Paolo! So, small progress today with the low body painted in red. Here is a test of a low sheen clear coat on a rough part painted in red (a part of a 312PB). I'm still wondering wether I'll use 2K or Low sheen to depict the 1951 paint finish... I've also work on the exhaust. I didn't like the rear end of the exhaust provided, so I machined a new one in a piece of aluminum. The original "pipe" was cut off ...and replaced with the new one. The different tubes and rough material: Hope you still like the build of the Red Bullet. More to come soon I hope. Pascal

pg265
Hi, As I wasn't very happy of the louvers opening result, I ordered a new part. The resin lower body arrived on Wednesday and the Wip will soon start again. Just need to ..... open the louvers again Pascal

pg265
Hi, It's been quite a long time since the last update on the Magic Tipo 500...  : It seems that modeling time is "on"  again  First of all all the paint process was redone! I met a problem with the clear coat and put all the painted parts in a bath of Alcohol to strip the paint and clear coat. Then DC primer was sprayed before ZP Rosso corsa and finally GC clear coat. Here are the parts waiting for complete dry in the box: But I found that this Hi Shine final coat was too ... shiny! Too much for that era and without defect. So I decided to lightly "sand" the surface with 8000 to "tone down" the mirror finish and use a bit of Mr Treatment to give a "lower shine" to the parts. Not too much because I also wanted tiny "scratches" to be visible...      And, even if I still wonder if the rear tanks will be visible, I add few details  and rivets... big ones.  ... and Still (slowly  ) progressing:      Pascal
pg265
Good evening, The Ferrari 312F1 67 drawing to the end, I thought it would not be silly to take advantage of the momentum to launch a new project / challenge ... In the mood for Rosso Corsa, I decided to reopen the box containing an assembly started a long time ago and finished at 95% (there were only all the rivets / Dzus, the decals and some small details ..), the result did not satisfy me. So I decided to deconstruct as much as possible and ... to rebuild to finish the model. I offer you some pictures of the whole recovery. Big job of modifying the resin parts of the bodywork Before passing the internal layer of Grayish Blue FS 35237 from GS (Navy when you hold us ...) without excessive masking: Resumption of the seat on which I pass a layer of beige which will serve as a sanding guide and background for the steering wheel: The exhaust is also modified with the addition of some welds in metal and Tamiya epoxy putty (sorry for the image ... blurred!) The whole is masked to pass a veil of diluted Gunze tire Black. This keeps the heated metal appearance at the outlet of the cylinders. The part before the 2 in 1 is buffered with liquid rubber to simulate the burnt paint which is crumbling, the whole is then passed to oils and pastels. All of the front and rear axles are dismantled, rebuilt, modified and reinstalled. The clamps of the leaf springs are redone in strips of lead sheet of 1 mm: it is thinner, it facilitates the assembly and ... I like it more than before!  The rear axle wired, the tanks connected before a new pass of "traces of lives" https://i.servimg.com/u/f12/12/38/43/52/90411910.jpg[/img We don't really see the pretty castellated nuts anymore ... And finally the final assembly with the installation of all the screws, the windshield, the mirrors, the installation of the decals ... The wheels are only provisionally installed so that I can more easily prepare its storage / transport box. I will definitely do more pictures later. Voilà . Bevital
Another masterpiece from a master modeler! Great as usual...  A little critique for the kit, not for the modeler: IMHO, the screws and many rivets are a little too big for the scale....
