Looks like a cracker of a paint scheme! :)

How much is 58? (showing my ignorance here...) in £?

Thanks all, the scheme is all by masking, not even any cheat lines provided!

Hi Daniel,

It's a great subject to do and very colourful, but that scheme is no longer used by the current August 1st team, they had all their aircraft painted up in that way, but then changed their minds and used a totally different scheme :analintruder: ---- http://aerobaticteams.net/august-1st-gallery.html.

If you want the current markings there is a set on the market in 1/72 from a company called Dream Model ---- http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10155932. Good luck with whichever one you choose to do.

£5.87 at todays exchange rate.

I go to China and Hong Kong a few times each year, and I've always found the prices to be about 50% to 60% of what I would pay in the US. And it doesn't matter which manufacturer, or where the kit came from originally. Next trip I'm taking an empty suitcase to fill up with goodies from the hobby shops!

Cheers,

That's a colourful scheme! Looking forward to seeing the finished thing.

And at under £6 that looks like a great bargain you got there.

I'll definitely be building th scheme in the box, it was used, so that'll do for me.

Ok, managed to build up the cockpit, very impressed with the seats, each one is 7 pieces. This is 1/72 and massively zoomed in and cropped (iPad pictures)

That really will be it until next week, as I'm off diving this weekend.

I used to go every month, used to enjoy the challenge of finding shops! That's all over for now though, although I was in your country and state last month, but didn't visit any model shops.

Any joy in finding another shop in Shanghai yet? I've drawn a blank since YiFeng moved on :crying:

Still trying to get to Hong Kong though!

No, I got a new job 7 months ago. Had one last trip, but went to Japan for the weekend instead and went shopping there.

To show I'm making progress:

And I've just ordered some Tamiya masking SHEET which I've never seen before to help with the markings

I'm trying to get to the painting stage as quickly as possible, as I think that'll be the most fun part of this build.

I have the kit in 1/48 and are not looking forward to the masking;-)

But eventually it will happen....

I've just bought the Academy Golden Eagles kit in 1/48, and plan to paint the markings, so this can be a practice.

Looking very sharp so far Daniel :)

Be interesting to see how you get on with the masking sheet ..... that's a new one on me too.

Cheers
