Hi,

trying to source a AMX kit in 1/48.

For the Italian version there existed the WARRIOR kit which seems to be out of production.

The Brazilian verion of single and double seater is available from DUARTE Models:

DUARTE @ Modelcraft Limited

Then there is a kit from GIIC

GIIC @Modelcraft Limited

and then I encounterd

these Verions for Iatlien as well as Brazilian examples:

AMY@ ebay: Hobbybr

Can anybody enlighten me about the difference of these kits ?

Anybody built one ore more of them?

Thank you !

Hi Werner,

surely it won't be an easy build but the kit is generally correct and has very good decals too.

Search on line, I remember there are nice articles in a couple of website, just use a translator because at least one is in Italian language.

Bye.

Marco

  • 1 year later...

I have one AMX A-1B (biplace) 1/48 from Duarte and just received my second kit from him one Super Tucano 1/48.

I never tried a "full resin kit" and I will let you know as soon as I start them. I have checked the parts and they look ok, no bubbles and good quality resin, decals are from FCM good quality as well.

Hello exdraken,

I have the Warrior kit and it seems to be a nice one. Resin parts are generally correct with not so many bubbles and a dry fit of the fuselage halves doesn't seem to have any surprises. Metal parts are ok and cockpit is a bit simple but apparently correct for an Italian bird. If you try to model a Brazilian plane from this kit you will need to change the cannon because Italy uses one M-61 and Brazil uses two 20mm on each side. I saw on a Italian modelling site a work in progress and there the modeller mentioned that there was a small difference in size of the pylons but I didn't compare the kit parts to any drawing, so I cannot say if this advice is correct or not.

I saw some pictures and reviews of the GIIC kit. I would not recommend that to you.

Duarte seems to have a better casting and better decals so, if you want a Brazilian bird, go for this one and you won't need to convert the front to have our two cannons. I also saw some buildings of this kit and it gives you a very fine model when finished.

Despite the model you choose, keep in mind that all are full resin kits, so patience and dry fitting are basic requirements!

I hope it helped.

Hi exdraken,

Did you grab one AMX for you?

I should start mine this week and I'm looking for drawings... Specially for the Brazilian biplace version.

Do you have any?

Regads,

José
