Spitfires Forever Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I ran across a picture of Marseilles' OTTO which I had read something about at one time and thought it would be a good addition to a diorama with my BF-109 F4. Anybody have any links or pictures of his Kibelwagon? I could ask the Messershmitt boffins but I figured you multi wheeled vehicular oriented types might have a little more expertise on the subject. I plan to use the 1/48 Tamiya kit for this. Cheers
JackG Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) It would probably be more a question for the aircraft guys considering it was the vehicle of a very prominent ace. Story is the Italians presented it to him after scoring eight (otto in Italian) victories in ten minute, September 1st 1942. I've no photos other than what can be googled. Appears to have the balloon tires as required for the desert, replacing the usual thinner ones of mainland Europe. Quickly found at least one decal offering in 1/48 scale by Peddinghaus via Track48. Also Lifelike decals includes it in their set # 48-035 regards, Jack Edited July 3, 2012 by JackG
Spitfires Forever Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 Thanks Jack, I find Marseilles fascinating. A very controversial, or should I say an ace surrounded by controversy. Johnnie Johnson was very skeptical about his score and legendary skills, as he was about many German aces. Now I will have to see what tires are available for an accurate Kubelwagon. Cheers

Any clue as to the color? I assume Afrika Korps sand or something similar? Or an Italian equivalent? If vehicle colors are as controversial as colors for aircraft this could get interesting! Hopefully it is simple and I can use the same paint for my early production Tiger I. Cheers
