Chris Jephcott Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 That is also incredible work. Really top - looking forward to making this kit myself too!
pabbi Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 hi guys, i need some input on the weathering, do you think the dirt or/and mud is overdone ?? ... it is all washable
CPNGROATS Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Great model...the weathering looks good, these a/c saw lots of action and I doubt if there was much time to clean them between sorties... Cheers, ggc
pabbi Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 for weathering I used Promodellers Dark wash and Tamiya powder, for antenna EZ Line Charcoal .003 Finished cheers, Ragnar
Learstang Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Brilliant job, Ragnar! That is one nice-looking Shturmovik! I may do mine as Ivan Pavlov's aeroplane also. Incidentally, the 1/32nd scale Hobby Boss arrow has the decals for his aircraft so I might end up with two examples of this particular aeroplane (someday!). I do hope mine come out as nicely as yours! Best Regards, Jason
pabbi Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 thanks Jason can anyone translate the slogan to english ? ?
Robert Stuart Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Very nice Pabbi I don't speak Russian, but a profile of this aircraft has this comment ... This Il-2 was operated by 6th GvOShAP (Guards Independant Attack Regiment) on the Kalinin front. It was flown by Yuriy Pavlov, Hero of the Soviet Union, and paid for by workers from his home town of Kustanai, as the legend on the side revealsIlyushin Il-2 and Il-10 Shturmovik, Yefim Gordon and Sergey Komissarov profiles between pp96 and 97
Wizball Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 the main landing gear has a great fit, not possible to do them not level, I was going to add them after painting but they need to be on before the "landing gear front cover". This information is too late for you, but in the latest TMMI Marcus Nicholls do this model and he's found a way to fit the landing gear later: "I found that I was able to completely assemble the legs into their wells without glueing them to the airframe, enabling them to be removed for painting. I then re-fitted the undercarriage bay nose-caps to the wings' leading edges for main camouflage colour application; conveniently, they click into place, allowing them to be popped off when it's time for the U/C structures to be re-installed". This information may be useful for someone else building this!
Learstang Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Thank you for the tip on the landing gear, wizball! I'll remember that when I do my kit. Regards, Jason
