Hi Neil

I assume you mean "MkIX" not MkIV?

originally sutton harness, post war changed to "Q" type. [ultrcast say from mid war on, Edgar knows for sure.] I would guess these would retain sutton type.

Seat I believe are the brick red 'similar to bakelite' material [phenolic resin?]

Since the decals say 1/48th,

Eduard do pre painted etch harness.

sutton -http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ED49006

Q type - http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ED49007

Ultracast do seats, availble here

http://www.ultracast.ca/products/48/020/default.htm

they also do the later "Q" type here

http://www.ultracast.ca/products/48/068/default.htm

Post from Canada is the killer though..

In the UK your best bet for them is

http://www.3d-kits.co.uk/online-shop/index...amp;x=0&y=0

Not listed, but they can order them for you, as they regularly do wholesale orders, and post is only £1 in the UK.

The "QS" harness, with quick-release box, was introduced from August 1946 on all Marks, except the low-back XVI, which had it from the start because the fuel tank got in the way of the run of cables. In October 1946, the cables, aft of the seat bulkhead, were deleted, and the straps were relocated to run through a crossbar on the pilot's armour, then behind the back of the seat, down to a crossbar on the bulkhead, thus becoming the "ZB" harness.

Note how the thigh straps moved back to the corners of the seat, thereby becoming hipstraps.

The seat, as always, remained a choice between Dural (therefore green or black,) or plastic (therefore red.)

Beat me to it Edgar :speak_cool:

I was going to say QS then ZB and that QS type were fitted to a low-back from the start.

I'd say that TB287 is probably your XVI on that sheet, but she's a high-back,so basically

a Mk IX fitted with a Merlin 266,broadchord Mk.VIII Merlin rudder and possibly an e wing.

The rest(obviously not the 21)look like c winged IX's
