TonyGol
This is my entry for the GB, the Academy M-51 Super Sherman "Israeli Medium Tank". This the the first Academy tank I have built so should be fun. Looks like I need to do some research on the overall colour of the tank "Sinai Grey". A few pics now. AnonymousDFB1
Welcome aboard Tony, you've got a nice kit. I'm pitching extras out of mine for my Dragon M-51 as my Academy kit hull is missing
Bullardino
Welcome among the M4 fans You chose a nice kit, just be careful when assembling the mantlet as it is the only real issue. And remember to check where to put the extra loads, as Academy seems to have them in the wrong places. Regarding the sinai grey, I'll give a look to an italian forum where a guy just built the same kit as yours and will let you know what I found
Bullardino
Regarding the sinai grey, I'll give a look to an italian forum where a guy just built the same kit as yours and will let you know what I found That's what I found out: the best sinai grey seems to be the lifecolor one. If you prefer humbrol colours, the Hu72 enamel seems to be the best match.

Bullardino
Cheers for the info. Interested in the Lifecolor paint. They just released an Israeli paint set that has it, along with three pigments and two other colours. Lifecolor IDF set. The right one should be sandgrey 01. TonyGol
Tonight I started on the mantel which doesnt fit at all. The bottom piece chopped up and glued roughly in place. Vallejo filler applied all round in and out. Will leave for a few days to dry completely before sanding back. Primed the chassic with Vallejo surface primer IDF Sand Grey. Tony. swordfish fairey
Hi Tony, what do you think about the Vallejo surface primer, is it worth getting??. I normally use Halfords, with good results.. The build is looking great, I am after one of these kits as the combination of Sherman and a big gun is just too hard to resist.....Smudge
TonyGol
The Vallejo primer is very good. Airbrushes really well on plastic and it quite rough. I should real get back to building the kit but its on the back burner for the time being. Tony
