Paul Bradley
Excellent news - thre's a dearth of decent RN vessels in 1/350, especially destroyers and the like. Perhaps they'll do Battle or Weapon at some point, too. Ah - see here: http://ipmsphilippines.com/test-shots/trum...350-hms-eskimo/ It says HMCS Huron on the nameplate... There's also the HMS Kent (Type 23 frigate, that is): http://ipmsphilippines.com/test-shots/trum...pe-23-hms-kent/ Edited June 3, 2012 by Paul Bradley
73north
I have taken the plunge and bought the HMS Eskimo 1/350 - and plan to build it as HMS Cossack in late 1939 kit will arrive end of week - the after market stuff over the next 2-3 weeks I have also bought after market NAVY 2 pdr Mark-VII Quad mount – froms North Star Models ( as Trumpeter offer a 8 barrel version in the kit never fitted to RN Destroyers ) and WEM 1/350 Photo-etch , and HMS Eskimo Boat and Propeller Set , and Master Model after-market Brass 4.7 inch barrels and wooden decks by ARTWOX these additions should make it a fantastic Model http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bigblueboy-PE-1-350-Vickers-13mm-0-50-Quad-AA-gun-4-sets-35008-/171895302651?hash=item2805c229fb http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-350-Royal-NAVY-2-pdr-Mark-VII-Quad-mount-4-pcs-NorthStarModels-/302168920596?hash=item465aabd214:g:Hd0AAOSwhOVXerWZ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRITISH-4-7in-45-MK-IX-XII-BARRELS-TO-I-J-K-N-O-Q-TRIBAL-CLASSES-350078-/381744199554?hash=item58e1ba3782:g:YCgAAOSwm8VUsnPt http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Holzdeck-fur-1-350-HMS-Eskimo-Trumpeter-05331-Artwox-AW10094-/322304605264?hash=item4b0ad9fc50:g:~b0AAOSwHMJYDf5N
zed
If you are getting all those upgrades to the kit, and they are well worth it, be aware of a really bad mistake that Trumpeter made with the kit. This is in addition to 4-barrel/8-barrel pom-pom and boats that they mixed up. There is no upsweep to the bows that was so characteristic of the Tribals. The good news is that the WEM PE set is most helpful as it contains useful hints on how to correct the sheer. This involves raising the first 47 mm of the forecastle deck by 2 mms at the bow and fairing that in, plus relocating the hawsepipes. Good luck. 73north
yeah, thanks , I read that on the WEM Forum - I was aware of that fault ( typical of Trumpeter ) I should mention ( I am a sad anorak aged 50 ) that I started in the early 1990's collecting old Navy WW2 Postcards and now have an extensive collection , including all 16 of the Tribal , some ships are harder to get an original card than others - The Destroyer Ship Class that was a NIGHTMARE to get a original postcard was the K Class , followed by the L Class ( most were sunk and only in service for a short while ) for your admiration - Edited August 21, 2017 by 73north
