Mike Mcellaney

Tamiya 1/35 M-51 Sherman

Recommended Posts

Right this is the first one I will be building, the Tamiya 1/35 M-51 Sherman

She will be finished as a tank from The 6 Day War of 1967

Have not built any armour for about 6 years now so it should be fun

Will be adding some PE to the kit from Eduard this is on order plus some decals I picked up on E-bay

That's why I rarely do armour - wheels and wheels and wheels and wheels.

Looks a nice kit, and you've made a good start

Off to a good start, Mike :)

Wheels and tracks are always the worst part of the build, you're lucky that you have rubber tracks ;) I just finished building the Modelkasten tracks for my T-34, and that meant 72 individual track links per side with 2 pins on each side ;)

Well this is today's work, just added some weld detail that was missing from around the engine covers, Mr Surfacer to blend in the turret joint and the give a little more texture to the transmission cover

Nice job, Mike. The decals look the part, I wonder how they work under a layer of primer.

Well the primer is on and you can still see the resin decal cast marks, I think they have workd very nice
