Here it is.

Canadair CL-13(F-86) Sabre F5 of No.2 Day Fighter Wing, Grostenquin, France, 1956. Serial 23524 of the Sky Lancers! This scheme was the second and different to the 1955 scheme. However the team did not get round to displaying due to a tragic crash involving four of the team aircraft, painted up in this scheme, killing all four pilots during a practise session in March 1956. This put an end to Canadian display teams for a few years until the formation of the famous Golden Hawks. So this is a small tribute to those airmen.

The kit used was the Academy 1/72 kit. Paints were Xtracrylics throughout for the main finish. And the excellent Leading Edge decals provided the lovely scheme.

Here is my Airfix 1/72nd Sabre in Frecce tricolori colours using Aerodecal decals.

Mostly Humbrol enamels, with Xtracolour X123 Blue Angels blue topside and Alclad Aluminium for the BMF undersides.

A quick build for me, but this new Airfix kit is well made with a lot of detail and a good fit of parts.

Thanks for looking.

Grant

My third GB entry, the HobbyBoss Lynx HAS.3 in Black Cats markings.

The kit is nice in so many ways, it is such a shame about the well-publicised errors and omissions.

I added Pavla rotor blades and plundered the correct sponsons from another HobbyBoss Lynx kit. These sponsons did not have the tie-down rings (although the incorrect early sponsons did!), so I drilled a hole in each sponson and inserted a piece of guitar string to represent the ring. I think I spent more time on that fiddly, barely noticeable task than any other part of the build!

I am not happy with my masking on the clear parts, but all in all, I am quite pleased with the end result.

Here is my Fujimi 1/72 BAe Hawk of the Royal Saudi Air Force , "The Saudi Hawks".

The kit has some extra bits from a broken Airfix Hawk, plus I added an antenna under the nose from plastic card and drilled out the APU exhaust (?) on the fuselage spine.

I need to reattach the clear parts, because I am not happy with the fit.

Here is my second F-86 for this GB. It is the new Aifix kit, with Aerodecal decals and homemade masks from a scan of the PM wing decals kindly supplied by Tony.

Painted with Halfords grey undercoat, Alclad Aluminium and Humbrol enamels.

Enjoy.

RAF Red Arrows Hawk (1/48 Airfix)

Finished in the nick of time :) Out of the box with the addition of a pair of Aires ejector seats and a pilot from the spares. Xtracrylix 'Red Arrows Red' and Citadel paints used to finish.

This is the first model aircraft I've finished in well over 15 years and I hope it is the first of many!! I am dedicating this model to each and every member of this fine forum for the pure inspiration and pleasure you've brought me over the last few months. Had I not stumbled across the site I'd probably have never built it so big up! You're all amazing!
