French craft company Rflight is working on an improvement & correction set for the 1/48th ESCI/Italeri Dassault Mirage F-1 kit: incl. longer nose for F1C-200, CR & CT types; correct windshield, canopy, wheels, air intakes; new resized and redesigned wings with separate flaps and slats etc.

yes...Yes...YEs...YES!

Not sure I'm sold on the resin wings, but the nose, canopy and intakes will go a long way to improve the shapes of the kit in that area and make it look as elegant and sleek as the original.

Yikes! €32 plus postage, and another €15 for the exhaust (which really needs the help), and they've not improved the undercarriage legs? And yet it's strangely compelling ...

I know what you mean....I was compellled to to try to place an order. There is also the AML exhaust which is a bit cheaper but not seen one in the flesh yet so am unable to comment on how good it is.

Ah, well, I can help you a bit here. The picture seems to have vanished but you can see a similar one on Hannants' webshite.

Many thanks Sean. I'll compare the two by using the photos available and see. Perhaps the Renaissance one is the better on first look.

If you start with the Kitty Hawk single seat, version when it arrives - I assume the single seat will follow the F1B given the split fuselage - will improvements still be needed or has Kitty Hawk captured most of not all? The prices mentioned above seem start out as more than a new Kitty Hawk one.

I am not an expert but do like the F1.

Cheers

I've not seen the Kittyhawk kit yet, still awaiting it to be available from a UK supplier. I don't know exactly how good the kit is and of course we still await the announcement of the single seat versions availability. I think therefore your questions possibly cannot be answered at the moment.

I have a stock of the Italeri kit to build and for me is a question of developing my building skills using the Italeri kit as a base. Yes I will be buying the Kittyhawk kit, no doubt more than one but I'll also be buying resin update items for the Italeri kit so as to build and improve the Italeri kit and hopefully move my skills up a little bit.

The Kittyhawk kit is likely to be around £35 so prices are not too dissimilar.
