Tiger Ausf.E Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Hi Newbie here! Did the Tiger get built, or is it an ongoing subject?
Mike Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Hi Newbie here!Did the Tiger get built, or is it an ongoing subject? I wonder... and to the forums. As it happens, I'm assembling the parts for a therapy build of a Tiger I using the Tamiya kit (35146) as the basis. I've got a turned barrel - the kit one is split down the middle, and we all know what that means I've also got some PE Zimm, which is a first for me, so I'll be distressing it a bit before application. Other than that, it'll be pretty much OOB. Hoping to start it soon once I crawl out from under the review pile
JackG Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Just came across this a few days ago... not sure how current it is, but is a great link to Tiger I kits. It does include 1/48 and 1/72 scales. http://tiger1.info/kits.html Each kit is then linked to a list of alterations that would make "...more realistic, or assembled more easily, by attention to these points..." regards, Jack
Tiger Ausf.E Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Being a bit of a Tiger nut I know it is virtually impossible to build a 100% accurate Tiger based on dates due to all the silly little changes they made etc. I am currently getting all the goodies together to build an initial Tiger from 502 near lenningrad. I have the fruil tracks, I have the Dragon Kit, I have the metal gun barrel. I have the photos of the Tiger, number 111 with tools secured on the back of the hull (where the Exhausts are) and no stowage bin. then i have pics of the same tank 2 weeks later with a PZKPFW III stowage bin on the back of the turret. So the Tiger I build will only be accurate for a 2 week period! Bizarre! But you have to be a bit in order to attempt an accurate Tiger! LOL.
