It's either the Kinetic or the much older kit from Classic Airframes in 1/48, which is not bad but being a limited run kit, it does require a lot of fitting tests. TBC
This is the kit I wish they would re-tool like the Gold Series F-16. The F-5A kits were plagued with having 2 left hand side tip tanks but they corrected that in the 2-seater boxing. Well, what they actually did was give you an extra sprue with a right hand tank but there was still 2 left hand tanks. I wonder if they've done the same thing in this RF-5A kit or correctly provided one left and right tip tank? The two left hand tip tanks was discovered during the builds of the test shots although Kinetic was not willing to do any other corrections on the kit by that stage. They wanted to get the kit to market.

I wonder if they've done the same thing in this RF-5A kit or correctly provided one left and right tip tank? No, they did not give an extra sprue, they modified/extended a common sprue to include the right hand tank. The same sprue used in the A kits, so not only the B boxing, later produced A kits including the original A boxing got updated/corrected as well. Anyway, who cares if one sprue has 2 left hand tanks, as long as they correctly provide both tanks in the kits?? BTW they also modified the tooling for the single seater canopy, in the original mold the canopy part is connected to the sprue runner on 3 gates, which resulted in flow marks in the clear part, because the plastic comes from 3 different directions and meets in the middle. They modified the tooling so that the canopy is only attached to the runner on 1 point, like most manufacturers do with the canopy parts. With one entry point there will normally be no more flow mark Unless there is uneven thickness of the canopy due to details or other reasons, So later production single seater boxings have flawless canopy as well. Teeradej
I have no idea if the “corrected” RH tank still on slim side compare to the LH ones. I used shims to increase RH tank thickness on my F-5B. 2231FD84-AB4B-4222-A04C-9E372E6D4710 by Dhira Seefa, on Flickr Edited January 4, 2023 by Teeradej
Boman
This new release will contain the same sprues incl. the RH and LH tanks as for earlier releases. You should not hold your breath for any remolding being done.

If anyone is after a corrected right hand tank, I'm looking to 3D print & sell correction sets to provide both a left and right tank set that are identical - however I don't have the kit myself, so I'd need the correct left hand part to reverse engineer! If anyone is interested, PM me (I'll cover postage and provide a free set of corrected parts, before I start selling them). Note to admin: I hope this "request" is allowed and doesn't fall foul of the rules - hoping to help fellow Britmodellers
