richellis
How about some anti-splatter screens? The ones to go over a frying pan they have a fine mesh, and I got 2 for a £1 from the pound shop. Im using it as mesh on my Routemasters

pigsty
Also, some cheap tea strainers have wire mesh. Though it takes some work to make it flat again.

jargonking
I can definitely recommend the Poundland splatter guards....the mesh will also do for the stone guards on the headlights. I must say, given the price of the Bentley reissue, I'm amazed that Airfix have made no attempt to upgrade the kit with some photoetch.
