Panzer Vor!!!
the big t is to release a 1/35 elephant. i was excited by the t55 enigma but dunno about this one ,it will be better then italrei,s detail wise and easy to build then dragons but how much??? why are kit companies ignoring ww1?? we are all crying out for a decent ww1 tank. afv_rob
Yep, its a bit of a bummer they went with this but i'm sure they know what they're doing. Price wise, UK will probably be £50-£55, at least thats what they're asking for the Engima, which frankly anyone would be nuts to pay when it can be had in the Far East for about £35 all in. Subject wise, well I think ww1 would be nice, but I guess there still isn't a mainstream interest in it. Kids see a war film like Saving Private Ryan, must have a Tiger. WW1 just isn't getting the coverage yet and its still a big risk for a company to tackle it, maybe 2014....

tommy1drop
To be honest it wont be a kit i will be buying, Tamiya for me are greedy in the prices that they are asking for their model kits, sure i realize that there are people that will buy there kits regardless of price, but for myself i think they are asking far to much for the kits that they manufacture! Personally i think that Tamiya have been over taken in the market by the likes of Dragon and Bronco etc for price and selection of new kits etc, so for myself personally, i think i would rather buy Dragons versions of the Elephant/Ferdinand rather than the new Tamiya version. This is due to price as i have already stated and the fact that you get more in the Dragon kits and Bronco kits than you do Tamiya kits(spares box will agree with that) but surely Tamiya must realise that there asking prices for new kits are not reasonable, so its a no for the new Tamiya Elephant from myself. Panzer Vor!!!
i think that a lot of the japanese manufactors concentrate on the home market , but tamiyas allways being big in rc cars i wonder how much dragon bronco are in japan true though that tamiyas kits are being overtaken by others though
pigsty
It's definitely a new kit? Not a reboxed Italeri one?

Shar2
Can't see what the fuss is all about, the build is terrible and it's not very accurate. Tamiya Elephant

AngloSaxon
It's definitely a new kit? Not a reboxed Italeri one? As hood says, it's definitely new tooling as per HLJ: Tamiya Elefant Seems Dragon have a new Ferdinand on the go too: Mike.
Mike
That's a nice looking Ferdinand - especially the tool box and the PE fenders The Tamiya Elefant is bound to be good... whether it'll bring anything new to the party remains to be seen, but everyone else's Elefant doesn't earn Tamiya any money
alanmac
Hi Mike Not really new at all, just a couple of toolboxes an some decal options additions to their previous excellent release. Trying to rain on Tamiya's parade I think.... Alan
afv_rob
I thought Dragon had ditched all their lines except for 'smart box' and 'orange box'.. interesting. I guess it will be the case that all the Dragon fans will buy the Dragon kit, Tamiya's fans will buy their kit. I have to agree you as well 'hood', after the IDF Shermans and the Enigma I thought Tamiya might continue with something different, maybe they haven't sold well...? Mark C
Wonder if the Dragon Ferdinands come with holes and burn marks like the real vehicles did at Kursk I will buy the Tamiya kit because if it is a nice as the Jagdtiger it will be a fun build.
