keefr22
That owes them a few quid!! Beautiful finish & detailing on it. The dash is superb - I wish whoever had done the one in our Mini had had the sense to label the fuses & switches like that, would have saved a lot of anquish! Really professional job that Escort, stunning really! K
Mikey58
Well that is amazing-very very nice indeed.Might be a problem over some sleeping policemen though with quite a low exhaust! What gearbox/shifter does it have? Mike

richellis
A friend of mine has an R reg Polo witha 1l badge on the back, and a Golf GTi 1.8t under the bonnet! it looks like a stock granny car from the outside, but does upset boy (and some man) racers off the lights! keefr22
I've just bought my son's Ibiza Cupra GTi off him & finally got it MoT'd again last week. I didn't know but they now weigh cars as part of the test. All the lightening work we've done has paid off, as despite a full FIA cage, it's just under a 1000kg empty. So with it's nice 155 brake 16 valve Golf motor it's quite rapid - as the guy who tried to leave me behind at the lights in his Mondeo found out yesterday! Best bit though is its handling, with just uprated & slightly lowered springs & Brembo grooved & vented discs with yellowstuff pads all round its brilliant fun in the twisty bits - even with the naff tyres its got on it now. Hope to sell enough surplus kits at Telford to get a set of Yokos....!! I think the Mk2 Ibiza had the same platform as a Polo? keef Edited November 4, 2012 by keefr22
richellis
yep, Ibiza and Corrado are Polos, leons and Toledos are Golfs
lufbramatt
Ibiza was a mk2 golf front end with a polo rear. Early Corrados were based on the mk2 Golf but the VR6 and later 4 pot ones shared the wider track suspension of the mk3 Golf. Mk1 toledos were mk3 golf front with a mk3/4 passat rear end. Mk2 Toledos and Leons were mk4 golf. Sorry for the VW geekout ;-) I drive a mk3 Passat GT with a 2.0 16v out of a mk3 Golf, with a ported+polished head and a few other tweaks :-) At under 1200kg it's not too heavy considering its an estate and will embarass a BMW Mini cooper away from the lights! Not bad for a 22 year old wagon
keefr22
Ibiza was a mk2 golf front end with a polo rear. Sorry for the VW geekout ;-) No, it's all good stuff!! Between us we've had the car for getting on for 6 years now, & are still surprised by the VW/Audi parts bin mix on it...!! Still having trouble finding a sumpguard for it (we're thinking of preparing it to road rally specs) - apparently a Mk2 Golf one can be persuaded to fit with a bit of modding - which figures I suppose??!!
