Tirpitz in her Lair

Recommended Posts

I put my Rolf Harris hat on yesterday and painted a back-drop for my Tirpitz Diorama.I used the box the kit came in as a canvass,it has turned better than I expected .As a bit of "artistic License "I added a U-boat surfacing outside the Torpedo nets ,it just adds to the interest.Well the diorama will soon be in the Modelzone shop, and on display.I hope so,as I have nowhere to put the thing!!

Hope you like it ,Cheers,Phil

Very nice staging of this famous giant of the seas.

I am surprised by the colors used for camouflage, I have several books on Tirpiz and there is no mention anywhere of green used here.I have references as various shades of gray ??

Is there new information on the subject which would prove the use of green in this period? If so what are they, I am very interested .

The Uboat is superb ,bravo. :goodjob:

Even a magnificent piece added to your collection.

See you son

Hi Remy,

Thanks for the comments, the Revell colour instructions and this book:

both give green as one of the colours used in this camouflage in Spring/summer 1942,she had many different colour schemes during her life, one with houses painted on her upper works during her fitting out, shown on the cover of the book !!

Cheers Phil
