Muzz
Folks, just started the Hobby Boss A-10, it's my first HB build, is it just me or are the instruction a bit vague in places?! For example the nose gear bay just appears built up in the instructions and ready to be inserted into the fuselage, anyway I'm sure I'll cope! I'm building an aircraft in the current grey scheme and was wondering what colour of grey the undercarriage bays are? It appears it could be the same colour as the lower fuselage (FS36375) but not sure.
bentwaters81tfw
Gear bays, wheels and u/c legs should be gloss white.

Jennings Heilig
Actually the *very* earliest Hogs, still in factory finish, had **very** light grey struts and gear bays. I crawled around under several of them before they had even been delivered to the USAF, and before they had any kind of unit markings on them. That was a *long* time ago
Mike V
The A-10's wheel wells, interior gear doors and all gear components were all gloss Aircraft gray for most of the jet's career. It wasn't until around early-mid 90s that some 2nt level maintenance shops at certain bases started painting the gear components white as they came through overhaul. Depot was still painting them gray at that time. When I was a QA Inspector at OSAN 02-03 on both F-16s and A-10s. It was typical to see a mix of gloss white and gloss gray gear components. The vast majority of all the gear doors and wheel wells were still gloss gray at that time. The last time I visited a CC friend at DM in 09, there was still a mix of white and gloss gray gear components, though the majority of the gear were white. Wheel wells were about 50/50. So it's a judgement call for the transition years, but if doing a Euro 1 scheme most of the gear components and the wheel wells will be gloss gray. Muzz
Thanks for the replies folks, was always going for the white gear legs and grey bays, just wondered if there was a specific colour of grey. Looks like I'll either go for the lower fuselage colour or the cockpit colou which ever looks best. Now, while we're on the subjct who does the best USAF greys in acrylic, was planning on going for Gunze.
