What's your best piece of aviation memorabilia

I have a used SAC badge and squadron patch from a B-52 crewman when I took a tour of Fairchild AFB in 1987.

As SAC no longer exists and the 325th Bomb Squadron is now retasked as a training unit for the B-2 and it's badge has been changed to reflect that, both badges are a bit special.

I also have a static discharge whick of the sort used on the C-141. Again, I picked it up in 1987; but at McChord AFB rather than Fairchild.

I have a paperweight too. A bit boring, but did mention it was a 30mm cannon shell from an A-10?

Dave

I have:

A small fragment of P-51 which crashed in the woods where a mate used to live

.303 bullet

50 Cal. bullet

Oh how I would love to get hold of an A-10 Shell

How about a 1939 Grunau baby built for the Hitler youth. Coded LN+ST which is still visible beneath the later coats of paint. I hope to restore it to flying condition as soon as I get some time.

Bits of Spitfire XIV, two Hurricanes, Fw190, Bf109, Wellington, Stirling and a P38 prop blade from an F5 photo bird. Plus a few other bits and bobs still in store back in my home town of Worcester.

....turbine blade from Vulcan XM567 Black Buck and a certificate to prove it!

I've also got one of these from an ATC camp at RAF Waddington back in the summer of '83. Although I am sure it came from XM607 - I'll just have to dig it out and check. We were all taken on tours of the hangers and as XM607 had just been put out as a gate guard (I've also got my photo, with the rest of my ATC squadron, with XM607 as the backdrop) we had the opportunity to have a small turbine blade with a certificate of authenticity.

My late-father was in the RAF and for one of his postings was working as ground crew for Oxford University Air Squadron at Abingdon back in the mid 30's. In 1936 he 'hacked' off a piece of fabric from a crashed Avro Tutor that has the Squadron Crest on it. Luckily he scribbled a few notes on the back (in pencil) outlining where it came from. The same as the example in the 1:72 AZ Tutor kit... Have a guess what is waiting in my to-do pile?

This thread made me look in the attic - I've also got a few bits and bobs.

The end of a Jaguar refuelling prove accidently left behind in the refuelling basket of a victor; firing chord from an Aim9-G Sidewinder dispatched at a Jindivik; slightly bent Aden cannon barrel; bang seat handle and other small bits such as some dented Adour turbine blades.

Here's a few photos - apologies for the quality - done from my Ipad in the attic and garage.

Now that is seriously impressive - Jim Lovell ( and Gene Kranz) are two people I would very much like to meet. Real life heroes of my time.

I used to have a thin cross section of rotor blade from G-Huey (as it was when captured in the Falklands), but has long gone, it disappeared while I was travellin g around India for a year and my parents moved house. Who knows, I might find it secreted away in some dark corner.

Evening all,

I have had a set of ground handling notes for the prototype Lightning XA847 for a while now, they are for the first all British supersonic jet to acheive twice the speed of sound in level flight, more recently though I have aquired the jewel of my collectiuon which is the sticktop.

It is almost certainly unique as it is believed to be from one of the development batch (DB) Lightnings XG327, it is certainly a prototype sticktop and the Lightning heritage is clearly evident, I also have photographic evidence of this top fitted to a DB airframe, it will be mounted on its own stand very soon :)

A copy of Wing Leader autographed to me by Air-Vice Marshal Johnson, and an assortment of photographs of RAF/USAAF/FAA personnel with Spitfires which I received as a result of writing to the Spitfire Society magazine (DCO, I believe, at the time) as a lad of nine, asking for same.
