Fujimi 1/72 F-4 Phantom questions

I think Euro 1 ran from about 1982-1987 for USAFE Phantoms, a little later for TAC, PACAF and ANG / AFRES jets. The 86th TFW at Ramstein (RS tailcode)converted to F-16s at the end of 1986, beginning of 1987 and the 52nd TFW at Spangdahlem (SP tailcode) lost their Es around the middle of 1987, of course the Gs lasted for about 5 more years. I don't think any of their Es went grey. Alconbury's RFs never went grey but Zweibrucken's did.

The best ( or worst!) scheme for stencils is SEA-the recent F-4G kit I got hold of has a jet that is literally covered in the things. SEA also opens up another some more units for you in USAFE-Hahn's 50 TFW (HR tailcode) and Torrejon in Spain (tailcode TJ)-I think they had a squadron of Es, not entirely sure, the 36th TFW at Bitburg and 32nd TFS at Soesterburg. The UK based Phantoms of the 48th and 81st TFWs didn't fly the E model. Should be something there for you!!

As far as I'm aware, only the factory painted aircraft in the SEA green/brown over grey scheme carried white stencils, and then only on the green portions. Done properly it is a superb looking scheme, and was actually seen on F-4C,D,E,G and RF-4C's, so plenty of scope. When these aircraft were repainted, they lost the white stencils, reverting to black ones overall.

PS if you don't want the Spey Phantom, plenty of people do (hint hint).

Forgot to mention, the RAF air superiority grey scheme also had white stencils, before I get my head chopped off.

It does, at least in 1/48 scale. There are about 3 Es to choose from. in that scheme, and a couple from Ramstein too. A very good set of sheets-part one has from the early '70's to the early 80's with all USAFE versions in Germany covered, and part 2 has the 80's covered.

Airdoc do both the F-4 USAFE sheets in 1/72 as well but they are hard to find and often expensive if they turn up on ebay.
