Lynx7
Taking a bit of a break on my 1/35 AA Lynx (in between doing a very exiting review and build for a certain magazine of a...shall we say...related subject), I thought I'd have a crack at the rare Fujimi 1/144 Lynx. Won this one on EBay from a seller in Japan for a very reasonable price. (Only took a week or so to arrive). When I was doing a bit of research for this kit, the ones I found were moulded in grey with solid windscreen and windows. I was very happy to find the one I received was moulded in clear plastic. Certainly saves cutting out and scratching the windscreen areas. Not that that would make a difference as I've set myself a little challenge with this one. Having seen MakingModelsAgains utterly gobsmacking supermicro detailing work on the Eduard JU87, I have decided to go as mad as I can on this little beauty. I plan to scratch build an entire interior and stick as much role kit on it as I can. depending on how OCD I get, I may even open a few panels and detail stuff inside..... Anyway, here it is; Tiny little box You get two identical clear sprues allowing you to make both the naval and army variants. For the size, the detail is rather nice. I intend to cut the doors off so I can make a full detailed interior. Old style 'steel blades' that will require the BERP treatment. I'm going to enjoy this one but I think I'm probably going to need some x30 lenses for my lens visor!!
woody37
I wish more would do clear fuselages, how easy it would be, simply mask the desired bits without gluing daft little parts in !!!
jimbuna
Looking forward to this....and such a small scale.

Justinjgy
Morning Tony Got Monday off so just checking on here for any new things and what a surprise your doing another lynx. I believe the box art of the blue Lynx is the same as the airfix kit and if so is XZ229 I flew in this for the 25th anniversary down in the falklands. I guess your making it into a Mk3 as the said about the blades ? Well done look forward to the update pics. J.
OzH
I built a couple of these, (still have another pair in a pack somewhere) when they came in grey plastic, very basic but fun. Looks good in clear as I simply painted all the windows gloss black - easy option!! Looking forwards to some good old fashioned OCD....!
Dave Fleming
I built a HAS that was in dark blue plastic many years ago.
merlin9807
Hey Tony, Glad to see these finally arrived for you i know you have talked about doing this for a while now. So have you decided what role your going to do the Mk7 in or you going to scratch it in to a Mk9/9A? Would be good to see it next to your BB Lynx Mk9A. Cheers Merl
Lynx7
Let the OCD commence! The large squares on my mat are 1cm dry fitted in place. 3 man and 6 man seats. Will use thin copper wire as the seat supports and strips of styrene for the harnesses. 6 man seat Doors cut out. One disadvantage with clear plastic is its quite brittle so cutting requires care otherwise it'll shatter or splinter. Its like working with a whole kit made out of canopy! I intend to cover the interior areas with thin milliput then imprint it to give the effect of soundproofing. I've worked out that I'll need 0.1mm copper wire for the intercom leads hanging from the roof. May use a hair...hmm a curly hair. Wonder where i could get one of those from? Merl, I'm going to do this one as a Mk7 prob with a door gun and IRCM exhausts. I'm thinking of doing the other one as a 9A. Should look good next to their bigger 1/48 brothers Edited February 20, 2012 by Lynx7
Squipps
Hello mate, The white coats and the padded cell are being prepared! It must be catching, started the A/fix 72nd HMA8 yesterday... This should be amazing to look at when finished. I've got some micro shot if you need some small spheres for the MK15's. Regards mark

ExRAF
Impressive but mad! I'm going to struggle with the 1/48 kits when they arrive. 1/144 is a scale I can't contemplate.
keefr22
Ahh, the joys of youth - I remember fully detailing a 1/144 Tomcat pit once, as well as opening avionics bay panels & dropping the slats & flaps. I doubt whether I could even see the kit now....!! Great work so far, that i/p & coaming is extremely neat!! Looking forwards to more! turnerdad
Madness but on a very small scale! The shape looks pretty good too, most of these small kits (certainly the Academy ones) are pretty awful. I'll be watching this Tony...
