Davec_24
Hi all, This is my long-stalled Bren Carrier build, which has resided in the attic now for several months. It is my first proper 1/35 AFV build (I had a crack at an M10 in this scale years ago) and was another of those builds where most of the assembly and painting had been done and I suddenly lost steam when it got to the detail stuff and weathering. Having recently visited the Tank Museum at Bovington, I've had some inspiration to go for an armour build from my Shelf of Doom instead of the aircraft I had originally planned. Anyway, here she is at present, apologies for the rubbish flash on the picture with all the bits; basically the thing has the main hull together with the running gear built but left off and the engine block, track guards, weapons and tools etc. yet to be installed: Next up, to add a wash and some dry-brushing to the vehicle and to finish painting the crew... Davec_24
Cheers Mish! Later start for a KUTA build than I originally planned, but I've been busy mass-producing 1/72 and 1/76 AFVs for a wargame recently.
Davec_24
Well, having dug this out and done a bit on it, I stopped again for a bit and then got stuck back in. Everything's gone together and weathered in quite quickly, and I've just got her finished today. I'm not sure whether I will add radio antennae to her or not, but everything else is done! I scratch-built a Boys AT rifle to replace the Bren Gun in the nose, and added some slings (from masking tape and fuse wire) to the Lee Enfields on the engine cover. Hopefully some photos in natural light to follow the better to show the painting and weathering; everything looks quite harsh and a little glossy under the flash, compared to with the naked eye. Anyway, here are some flash-photos for now: For my first large-scale armour build, I'm quite pleased with her. The desert colour schemes really suit the Bren Carrier! Will Vale
Looks great, especially with those eye-catching red and white markings to lift the tan and grey.
Murdo
Very nice mate, good paint scheme and weathering! I've always thought the wee Bren Carrier looked a fun vehicle to drive.
