Flankerman
Very Very nice....!!!!Can I ask, What were the colours you used for the subs? Don't tell the colour police - but they are Halfords rattle cans of acrylic car sprays. The lower hull is Red Plastic Primer, the 'black' is Volvo Dark Grey and the lighter grey on the US subs is Rover Tempest Grey. I think black is too stark - so 'off-black' is better. The sprays give a satin sheen - good enough for decals (with Klear if needed) - then I give them a final spray of Games Workshop 'Purity Seal' - a good satin varnish. After that I use a couple of pastel pencils (black and brown) rubbed onto a piece of emery - and applied with a brush to give a few streaks. It isn't 100% accurate - but I'm happy with the results. The figures are from a Fujimi Japanese Navy set - suitably painted to look occidental!!! With the bases, I've tried for a consitent look across my growing collection of 1:350 scale subs - MDF rectangles, chamfered edges, then varnished - with wooden blocks from lengths of square section dowel. I always try to find the ship's badge on't t'interweb - and print it off, with the ship's name and country flag onto photo-quality paper on my inkjet. If you haven't already seen them, I have a collection of 1:700 scale subs - plus my growing collection of 1:350 scale ones (scroll down the bottom for those). Danila
Dear Flankerman. Tell me please, what quality of a decal with a bull on the nose on Chicago? It is normally attached, and fits the body, or required for this extra effort?

On the real boat, it looks like it is just chalked on..... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...o_undocking.jpg On the model, the decal is very good - it went onto the curved bow with just a little application of Micro Sol - no big problems. Is this what you wanted ??? Ken
