Peter Marshall
Started today - planning on building the RNZAF version. This is the Italeri reboxing of the Accurate Minatures kit, and it's lovely, just a bit fiddly This is the fiddly bit, you have to build up all the interior apart from the turret in the two fuselage halves and get it all to align by repeated test fitting but the detail is lovely. Then sprayed all of the interior with model air interior green - ready for detail painting and weathering tomorrow. Silver Fox
Good start my friend. It is one of my favourite ever kits. The RNZAF roundels are a too light for total accuracy. Ventura do a lovely set if you want to change them.
Dave A
I've got that lined up to start shortly. Did you know you can downoad the original instructions from here?: http://web.archive.org/web/20071011225755/...m/support.shtml A lot more helpful than the Italeri ones! How did you get on with bending bits in the cockpit?
Peter Marshall
I *may* cut some masks and spray the roundels - depends on how they look relative to the paint once weathered a bit. Thanks for the link to the original instructions, i'd already downloaded them as the Italeri ones are less than concise... The bend on the plastic part is straightforward - just used Tamiya PE Pliers to get a straight grip, and it bent first time, there is a slight groove in the plastic where it bends. Once it had bent and i'd glued it to the side I put a small shim of plasticard behind it to stop it moving.
Bullardino
Nice start, I will follow your progresses as this is one the kits in my wishlist since when it was produced by AM.
Jon Kunac-Tabinor
Good start there mate - but watch out! That clear bulkhead isnt clear without a reason; the top bit has clear panels in it. It's shown in the AM instructions if memory serves, but not the Italeri ones ( I had both kits, but gave the italeri one to a friend, so can't confirm) Cheers Jonners

Peter Marshall
Some more work done today, having found some photo's from the RNZAF Museum I hadn't masked enough windows for the middle bulkhead, so the first thing today was to strip paint off from the bulkhead. Then on with more masking tape for *all* the windows this time :-) Then out with the Gouache paints, and picked out all the matt black bits, which took about an hour. Peter Marshall
Today's work on the Avenger (after i'd spent the morning playing with my new Kindle...). Lots of detail painting, and weathering down the interior. Made some replacement belts from tape, as the kit provides some truly aweful decals for the belts. I may even glue some bits together tomorrow... Peter
AndyC
Nice work Peter! Just remember to take your time with the turret - it can test the patience, believe me! Andy

Peter Marshall
Is this the kit with the turret glazing in two halves? Yes - looking forward to building the turret up and masked up, probably tomorrow. Should be fun..........
marky sparky
I wish I had started watching this sooner. I've just started my model and the instructions are a guidance at best. I've totally cocked up the rear bulkhead and flare chute, I couldn't figure that one out! Yours is looking good and I think I'll let you carry on and I'll follow. Peter Marshall
Today's work on the Avenger - first built up the turret, fiddly but looks nice when done Then added the tailwheel and arrestor hook However had a bit of a problem - managed to get some cellulose thinners onto the decal sheet. Therefore I will need to make some masks for the RNZAF roundels and spray them - not a huge problem, as they do look a little light anyway. Silver Fox
If you need some roundels, drop me a pm.
Peter Marshall
No Thanks, I should be fine. I've already designed the masks in software, ready to cut out next weekend. If anyone has an idea of what will be a good paint for the light blue for the roundels it would be appreciated. According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Air_Force_roundels#SEAC_and_RAAF), the light blue should be a 50/50 mix of white and roundel blue which looks about right and I have the right colours for that, but confirmation would be nice.
