c.smith10
Hi im currently working on tamiyas 48th scale P-47 which im going to do in 78th fighter group colours using the kit decals but one thing im unsure of is the colour anti-glare panel, the kit call out is OD but some photos show it in black. The box art also shows it in black! so which is it? OD or black? cheers
Work In Progress
If you are doing a Tamiya kit with kit decals, you are using kit no 61090, a bubbletop, as 42-26551, WZ-P, I assume? Natural metal? I have always considered the anti-dazzle panel on that aeroplane and its similarly painted unit colleagues, to be black, the same colour as the chequer-board squares on the nose. I can't prove it definitively either way, by reference to photographs, so don't take this as a claim of final wisdom. greatgonzo
I have seen no evidence of overpainting antiglare panels of 78th FG NMF Thunderbolts. Pics showing them factory OD - yes. Razorbacks and Bubbletops, both.
Steven Eisenman
Factory painted Dark Olive Drab on NMF aircraft. The color extended under the closed canopy and down the spine
