Revell Wessex 3

Hi Woo,

I don't know if the Revell kit will be a new tool or a re-release of the old one with the 'tripod' undercarriage :crying: .

If it is the old one then I would recommend Ian's (Heritage Aviation) conversion set to correct it.

If anyone wanted to do the HU.5 commando version then the nose door would also need modifying.

Cheers

Mike

It's the old one.

Not to bothered if its the old one, its a reasonable strting kit and as Bootneck says Ian at Heritage does an update. It will be good to see his MkV when it comes. Also on Ebay a guy is doing nose, radome and belly corrections.

I agree about the 32nd Lynx thats one for me. Not seen any shots of it yet though.

Tempted to pre-order from Wonderland, they seem a good shop/trader.

Eyes down and radar on.

Cheers the Woo

I asked in Telford, and it is the old one. I can recommend Ian's (Heritage Aviation) detail set, and I'm just revising my moulds for the Radome, Collar and Underside. Dave

I'm not aware of this, but very interested. Can you supply details?

Thanks

Mike

The "ebay guy" is called "blind_side" click on his name to see what he is selling (on 19 Jan 12).

I bought the belly update from him and it is very good.

I havn't seen the other bits, but they all look useful.

Oh, and he a Britmodeller.... davepb - about 2 posts up from this one....

Hi Guy's, Regarding the Blind Side partas, as Oz says they look good but it is only a start. I was looking at the HAS 3 and HU 5kits last week and comparing them with the 4+ drawings and besides the nose on both which need plenty of attention also the window on the starboard side is the small veriety ala an H-34. I think besides a new u/c the rotorhead looks undersize. Both kits are a starting point but it depends on how accurate a Wessex you want to end up with. Ihaven't sen Oz's undercarrige so can't make a comment but I'm sure it's good and remeber the cockpit also needs a complete make over.

I've got the basis of a 5 nose already carved, it needs the deatil adding etc, if enough of you were interested, I could add it to my ROTORcraft range along with the weapons platforms.

I worked on the 5's on 845 and 847 and have collected a lot of info over the years, so if any of you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

It's going to be good to see what Ian at Heritage brings out regarding his Mk5. Being an ex Wessex engineer (even if he was a light blue engineer and not a Royal Naval engineer) he is best placed to produce a first class kit.

Lets hope Aviation Workshop brings out its to quality high and low vis decal schemes for both RN and RAF.

Anyway here's living in hope.
