phat trev
Would the 1/72 Airwaves cockpit etch set fit the Frog Fairey Firefly Mk.1? Anyone tried? Edited January 15, 2012 by phat trev
venomvixen
Not heard of this set. Where would one go to ease of with one?
Paul Bradley
Many parts can be used, but the Airwaves set is designed for the Airfix kit, which is much narrower, so the aft cockpit coaming won't fit - I scratchbuilt one on my builds. The seats are particularly nice, and I also used the sidewalls and assorted other small parts. It's worth considering, and currently available from Hannants: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AEC72164 Edited January 16, 2012 by Paul Bradley

Paul Bradley
The Frog kit - the Airfix one is a bit underscale all round.
Giorgio N
Thanks Paul ! I have an airfix kit I'm thinking of trying to improve, but the more I look at it the more I think the challenge is too extreme for me
Troy Smith
Would the 1/72 Airwaves cockpit etch set fit the Frog Fairey Firefly Mk.1? Anyone tried? If you have a graphics program, save the image of the set, and then rescale it to a known dimension [might be tricky if the Airfix kit is underscale] suggest converting to a b/w image and then print out a copy on thin card, you can then cut out bits and see if they fit..... or use them as a template to scratch the items if you having a case of the "Nobby's" [see work in progress threads] though I suggest you'd find out why aftermarket was invented then..... venomvixen
The Frog kit - the Airfix one is a bit underscale all round. Really? I have a set of 1/72 scale plans that the Airfix kit seems to match quite well.
Paul Bradley
Depends on whose plans you use - I refer to the new ones created by our own Mark Gauntlett
