Wafu
Hi I need to get a Churchill AVRE and am torn between the Tamiya offering (I have a few of these) with the Resicast Turret conversion and a splash of the Eduard etch OR get the AFV AVRE? The thing is I want to put the new build AVRE with a Tamiya AVRE conversion Bridge layer and worry that the differences will show once side by side? So what I am trying to say is how the two go scale and appearance wise, if they go together at all. The Woo
Malcolm Shaw
The Tamiya kit is a MK7 as you probably know so to do a WW2 era AVRE you will have to make a lot more changes than just the turret. Now then, you could always do the Tamiya as a post WW2 AVRE by using the AVRE parts from the AFV Club kit and modifying the Tamiya turret to suit, ie a new gun barrel and other fittings. I`m planning a post-war AVRE and i am converting a spare Tamiya turret for this project but still need to buy the AFV AVRE and another Tamiya kit. PS. I love the Churchill, i`ve got about 9 different versions, at various levels of completion, on the go and plan more when finances allow. You could always do a MK3 and a MK4 AVRE to stand side by side, it would be interesting to see the two together. I think the Tamiya Churchill is slightly the wrong size due to being designed to be motorised but it is not really noticeable when next to the AFV offerings, so i wouldn`t worry about it if i were you. Malcolm Hi Malcolm Thats the thing, when side by side I don't want it to stand out that the two kits are differant. Cheers Woo
