VG 33
Hi Here is my Valom Hampden finished after many months. I made some sort of compromise with the transparencies but in the end I won. Decals are from Modeldecal sheets. Currently published in Wingmasters. Patrick Edited July 18, 2020 by VG 33
J.D.
Very nice! What unit is this please? Looks like Coastal Command.
mossieramm
Damn you for finishing this Valom Hampden so neatly. You make me want to finish mine, I'm stuck on the transparancies. Pitty there are no photos of the underside. I'm curious to see how the rear transparancy fitted. David.

AndyC
That's really nice - I'm a sucker for Coastal Command finish on a/c - looks so much better than drab Bomber Command Andy
Maxidad
Fine looking build there. I've always loved the shape of the Hampden, but thought it never looked like a British aircraft - something continental about it.

tonyot
Hello Patrick, What a gorgeous model, and from a kit which I`ve heard mixed reports, what were the issues with the clear parts, were they too wide for the fuselage? The Coastal Command scheme looks superb on your model but I`d be interested in knowing which unit it was from, was it a Met Recce unit? I`ll have to search out the magazine to read the full build as this is one of the nicest Hampden models that I have ever seen, All the best Tony O

VG 33
Thank you very much. Actually I widened the front fuselage. But not in front of the pilot windscreen because this one is nearly correct. Next the moving part is vacuum formed and I widened the middle fuselage. Obviously the gunner canopy cannot go inside the fuselage but I made the maximum to stay close to the original shape. The same underside. She's from a Met Fight but as I am not at home and I do not have on hand my documentation (something like 1402 or 1403 Met Flght) This scheme is on the Valom decal sheet but I changed everything because I disliked their colours. VG 33
This Hampden was from 1404 Meteorological Flight, which became 517 Squadron later, in January 1943. The picture is from page 109 in the book "The Hampden file". Patrick
tonyot
Thanks for the info Patrick. Could I just ask you to clarify whether the nose transparencies fit the model or not, as I`ve heard elsewhere that the nose glazing was too wide for the fuselage and that the entire fuselage needed to be widened? Sorry for mithering, Cheers Tony O
VG 33
Hi Do these pictures answer the questions about the transparencies? They are wider but not so. The white line is where I added some styrene. Anyway I glued the upper nose transparencies with CA one side after the other to get the right shape.
